Wife's birthday, tier 3 lockdown, how can I make it special?.... I know, a little trip down the road for a nights stay at our local hotel. So glad we did! A break from the (new) norm for a night. From the moment we walked in, we were met with a big smile and help from a lovely lady at the check-in desk. With cleanliness now at the fore front of all our minds too, I was really happy that our room was actually spotless! We had booked a table at the bar&grill for 7pm, and even though we turned up 30 minutes late, the staff were still welcoming and happily showed us to our table. The steak was massive and the kids ate every bit of their kids meal! They loved that they were allowed to take the ice cream dessert pots back up to the bedroom too! Back upto the room with the ice cream and some popcorn... kids were happy, wife was happy. We all got a good nights sleep, and the mattresses were that comfy my Daughter even commented that she never wanted to get out of the "comfiest bed in the World!" The full English breakfast was brought to us on a tray in the restaurant with everything we could need. There were cocopops, croissants, yoghurts, toast, drinks and even jams for the kids too! To finish off our impromptu break away we enjoyed a family swim in the big pool. We got a locker and could use the family change with private rooms which had a shower in them too. All in all I'd highly recommend doing this as a treat. Who would have thought a simple night away in a hotel on our doorstep would bring such excitement! The kids loved it and it was a nice birthday surprise for my wife. The hotel was very clean throughout, the food was good, the bed was comfy, the staff were happy and helpful. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our family and friends!

Clean. Safe. Short and sweet Lovely evening meal. Quick and efficient. Although not sure on the wooden trays instead of plates. Breakfast was 10/10 and served on a plate. Wooden trays for evening meal Lights not working in room

Would stay again. Room well appointed, however hair dryer cable too short to dry hair whilst looking in mirror. Good job I always take my travel mirror with me! Longer cord on hair dryer or move mirror.

We have dined at the village Bury many times, and on the whole have been happy with the food and service, So it was disappointing on our last visit , that we had reason to complain about our meal , very poor steak, slow and unresponsive service. However, the manager Jack Hughes, deserves 10/10 for the way he handled it. He was apologigetic, seemed genuinely interested in our feedback and treated us like valued customers. His intervention, secured our future custom, and willingness to accept it was a one- off.

Think of the Village hotel like Ryan Air, except it’s overpriced to start with....
Would you like to park your car? That’ll be extra.
Would you like to use the gym / swimming pool? That’ll be extra, and so on
At this price point you could book any number of hotels with the same facilities which aren’t charged as an extra, so is the accommodation exceptionally good? Not really - everything is quite tired to boot.
I think Village need to spend a little less on installing Starbucks franchises and a little more on the guest experience, even the check in / check out is Ryan Air - do it yourself on an iPad.
Given its location you’d be better off paying half the price for the Premier Inn in town and paying to visit the sports centre if you fancied some exercise.
Would I stay in a Village hotel again? Probably- sometimes it’s just convenient, would I choose one if I wasn’t travelling for business? No

I like the stay and all was quite perfect, service, design of the rooms, cleanliness, very comfy bed.
The only poor point is the lack of soundproofing in the walls where converstations can be heard from the neighbouring rooms.

Overall will recommend and return for another stay.
Thank you.

Exceptional It’s beautiful and stunning I don’t like the steps at the front especially if I’m carrying luggage I don’t think we should pay car parking if you stay in the hotel overnight It’s a bit too pricey for it being in Bury

Reasonably pleasant place to stay on business The Village hotel chain has a pretty good common standard. I liked the business centre area particularly - a good place to work for a few hours. Bar/restaurant area has a nice feel rather spoiled by COVID restrictions but you can't fault the staff and their helpful attitude. Personally I don't like the do-it-yourself check in/check out process - but that's probably me. Breakfasts are disappointing - fortunately there's a Starbucks in the foyer.
