We have used The vilage hotel on numerous occasions for business presentations, business lunches and company Xmas parties. It is an excel;lent facility easily found and with more than ample free parking at Junction 2. The staff are always friendly and helpful and offer outstanding facilities

I have been to many business functions at The Village Hotel, the most recent being the Bury FC Christmas Lunch which was excellent. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and welcoming. A great venue! Debi Fellone

We know and love the Village Hotel for many reasons, not least it being a great meeting venue for business and social occasions. The Victory pub have a great range of food and the staff are informal and friendly. We have had several of my business Christmas events there, stayed over and have been members of the gym. A great facility all round with fantastic motorway and local access

I stayed at thsi hotel for one night with my partner and my cat, as we were visiting family in Bury before going to a cat show in Stockport the following day.

Firstly, this is a HOTEL not a Travel Lodge/Inn with lots of rooms, a bar, a restaurant and a proper reception. It is nice quality and not at all shabby.

Rooms - the standard doubles were a bit on the small side, but had everything you wanted including a large TV with lots of channels and a nice bathroom.

Bar - Nice size serving reasonably priced snacks as well as drinks. Evening time was noisy, but then it was December and the hotel does put on Christmas Party Night work do's in Decembers. They also put on a lot of themed nights throughout the year, so there may be a lot of young, drunk and fairly noisy people wandering around later on, but this didn't bother us. We aren't over the hill yet! I assume it is a lot quieter Sunday to Thursday.

Restaurant - Again nice. Breakfast was of very good quality. The choice was not to the standard of, say, a Holiday Inn, but it was nice to have a properly cooked sausage (i.e. brown all over not just on one side) for a change! My partner swore the scrambled eggs were powdered, but then he swears all hotels use powdered eggs!

Staff - Nice and friendly (but then all northern people seem to be anyway). All were very keen to see my cat (extra fee of £10.00 on the room), word having got around!

Leisure - the pool area was lovely, water a little but fresh on entry but nice. Two roped lanes for avoiding any children (who are allowed in the pool up until 7.00 p.m.) plus a sauna, steam room, hot jacuzzi and pool temperature jacuzzi attached to the pool. Very relaxing and they even supply you with towels. There is a costume ringer in the changing room so you don't have to pack a wet swimsuit.

Location - We chose this hotel because it was just off the motorway and we needed a quick getaway in the morning. Lucky we did because it snowed for a few hours overnight and we would probably have not been able to drive on the less busy roads. However, if you want to go into Bury, it is probably a 20-30 minute walk.

Note - you can ring up and book an early check in for 12.00 noon instead of 3.00 p.m. if your room is not booked the night before for an additional fee of £10.00.

Stayed at this hotel as all the hotels in central Manchester were full. It's about 20 minutes drive from the centre so isn't difficult to go to concerts, etc. in the centre.

The room was clean and comfortable with all the facilities you would expect from a hotel. A little worn in places but the bed was very comfy and got a good nights sleep. No hotel information pack so we couldn't find out about the amenities, check out time, etc.

The hotel is split into two halves with a bridge linking the two on the second floor, meaning it's a little difficult to reach the rooms at the rear of the hotel. The communal areas were ok and the gym/swimming pool was of a good standard.

We tried to check-in at half two but the hotel wouldn't let us check-in until three in the afternoon. Reception staff were not the most friendly in the world. We had a coffee in the cafe while we were waiting - the cafe was a little grim and very much in need of a makeover.

Breakfast was included in the price but was absolute chaos. Had to wait half an hour for a table and when we did get one it was not very clean (napkins stuck to the table as did my arms - nice). We were sat next to some shelves and I wrote a 'clean me' message in the dust. Breakfast was ok but a little lacking and had to wait for coffee, juice, milk, pastries, hot food, etc. as they had all run out.

Plenty of free parking and I believe wireless internet was free but didn't use this.

Overall, hotel was just about acceptable but definitely wouldn't stay here again unless all the alternatives were full again.

My husband and I came to this part of the country for business purposes. The rate for the room was really very good and it included a meal on the Friday evening which was excellent. There is an £18 allowance against the a la carte menu, or there is a menu specifically for this meal which is a 3 course menu. The only gripe I have about the meal is that 4 different members of staff came to ask us if we would like to order - all within about a five minute time span.

The rooms are quite tired and need updating. There was a trouser press, iron, a decent hair drier. The only toiletries in the bathroom were the dispenser on the wall type, which made it quite difficult if you were having a bath. You have to stand up everytime you need some soap! The bed was an ordinary double and when you are used to a king size or super king size, it becomes very cozy!

Breakfast was well prepared, hot and tasty (buffet style) with the usual things on offer. The staff were very helpful and friendly and generally everything was good.

The hotel is well placed near a good network of motorways which was ideal for our needs.

This is our second stay here and we would return again in spite of the need for refurbishment of the bedrooms.

I have been staying at the Village in Bury three or four times a year for the past ten years, and have seen many changes, not all of them good, but this is a hotel that delivers on its promises and if you are able to take advantage of the advance saver rates then you won't find better value anywhere. The hotel has recently renovated its bedrooms (not before time - the drawer units were falling apart!) and the new rooms are stylish, functional, well-planned and the beds are very comfortable. As is usual practice in hotels, the lighting is rather poor but the bathrooms are bright enough. The pool and health club facilities are of a very good standard and spotlessly clean and well maintained. No complaints at the substantial breakfast selection, but steer clear of the restaurant if you are looking for a culinary excellence. The hotel caters to business people mainly midweek and at the weekends there are often weddings and celebrations. Be sure to ask for a quiet room if staying over the weekend because when we were there (over two weekends in early September) we were in a room directly over the function hall and the 'boom boom' of the disco went on till the wee hours on Saturday night, which did not enthrall us! The next week that we stayed there, the receptionist put us in a newly refurbished room on the second floor well away from the noise.
Nothing wrong with the Village, you get what you pay for.

The food is great at this hotel. We have eaten at some award winning places and the dinner that we had was the best ever. HOWEVER, customer service is very poor outwith. Went to the bar to order food at 9.55pm (last food order was 10pm), waited 10 mins to be served and was told that the kitchen closed at 10pm! All we wanted was 2 bowls of chips. To me this was a very poor show, and bad customer service. Room was good size. Paper thin walls, you could hear everything. Running up and down the corridors, upstair rooms baning about. Take your earplugs!

After reading a few reviews (although there are 2 separate entries for this hotel) I was pleasantly surprised with The Village Hotel Bury. There were 8 of us staying for the night (attending a concert at Heaton Park) and we found it excellent. The public rooms are very smart, even the Sports Bar is exactly as it should be, a public bar showing Sky Sports, we liked the buy 2 large glasses of wine & get the rest of the bottle free (a hefty £5+ saving on a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc) and there was plenty of space in the lounges to have lunch & a drink. Food was also very good (but please don't freeze your bread buns - it makes them stale!). The rooms were very spacious and had every facility, one of our party was allocated a room in the wing being refurbished (bit of a smell of paint on the corridor but no big problem) and it was truly stunning - if this is what's intended for the rest of the hotel - it will be very plush when all complete. Breakfast was the best breakfast I have every encountered in a hotel anywhere (and I'm an ex hotel manager who has worked and stayed in hundreds of hotels). For a very busy Sunday morning they had it covered. We got a very good rate through Booking.com and will definitely be back with our partners to a tribute night later in the year. I wouldn't hesitate to use Village Hotels again.

My husband and I stayed here for one night between staying in the Lake District and Wales - it's in a great location of lots of main motorways just north of Manchester so access is easy, although the location is not pretty! The hotel has a modern ground floor area with reception and dining/pub amenities. We grabbed a bargain burger deal on the Friday night in the pub and had a full English and continental breakfast on the Saturday morning. I was a little worried about noise as there was a wedding reception but we heard nothing in our room. The sports facilities are excellent, with large gym and 25m pool although we only used the swimming pool area. I would love to comment on the jacuzzi but it was occupied by two large men for most of our 1.5 hour visit to the pool!
I would agree with those who said the reception staff were polite but not friendly - but the rest of the staff were and our room was clean and fairly standard for a hotel of this type.

I came here for a friend's Hen do. There were 6 of us in 3 twin rooms all adjacent to each other. We started off with a spa morning. Loved the pool and jacuzzi but gutted about the number of children (3 of us being teachers you see...). Luckily after a yummy lunch (massive too) the children had seemed to have left the pool. 4 of our group had treatments booked throughout the afternoon. I had tried to book but they were full :( never mind. We then retreated to our rooms to get ready for the evening's dirty dancing tribute night. We had a 3 course meal (although I had ordered a vegetarian meal they had run out by the time they got to us...so I had pasta and sauce instead. Luckily for them it was yummy.) then the cabaret show began followed by a disco.

The following morning I had one of the most delicious (and big) breakfasts I have ever had!!! FAB!

All-in-all fantastic value for money when having a party night and over-night stay was only £60 - yes! £60 for 3 course meal, cabaret show, disco, bed & breakfast. :)

Definitely recommend for a Hen do. We were able to decorate our table with balloons and sprinkles etc prior to us going in which was a nice surprise for our friend.

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for the 2nd time to celebrate my daughters wedding. The staff went out of their way for us, were very helpful and made everybody welcome. Food was great and will be going back for New year.

We came as a large hen night party for the dirty dancing night. We had a great time. I found the staff a little disinterested and rude at reception but this wasn't the case in the bar, pool, cleaners etc as they were all great. The pool is fab and the changing facilities great. My room was lovely, spotlessly clean, quiet and had everything I needed but my friend's room needed some decorating updated (mine was much more modern).

The meal at night was good, the drinks very expensive and the dirty dancing singers/show was poor (they couldn't sing!) but it was still a lovely night and overall I would definitely reccomend this hotel.
Very cheap considering everything that we had included in the weekend and the marvelous pool would be worth every penny.

Nice breakfast but totally self service, including making your own toast! I found this a little bizarre!

Had 2 nights stay at this hotel on arrival very impressive on the eye , nice entrance ,reception very nice too staff where very friendly stayed on the 2nd floor above the bar didn't hear a thing all night . Used the gym and pool facilities both days really nice helpful members pool is fantastic. 2nd night booked into a Bee Gees night at the last minute staff really helpful in accommodating us as we were late booking had a great night until the early hours bar prices a bit stiff but expected at a hotel. Only downside of our stay was the breakfast which was cold as it had been sat under the warming lights for sometime, tea, coffee and toast making was a bit manic as it got a bit busy !!! could do with a later check out also as 11 is to early on a Sunday morning... would stay there again...

Overall the stay was really good. The room was lovely and the pool was nice. The tiles around the jacuzzi are very dirty and need a good clean, but apart from that excellent leisure facilities. The hotel reception manager needs some training in customer care. The manager had a terrible attitude and the way she spoke to myself and other clients was appalling.Everytime we walked past reception or was sitting in reception she seemed to be arguing with clients and was very defensive . Breakfast was lovely and the evening entertainment was enjoyable.

Arrived at Hotel after travelling from the South of France, approx 11pm Tuesday evening, had been travelling over 24hrs so to arrive and be greeted with a smile and consideration due to our long journey( room upgrade) to a quieter side of hotel we felt very grateful and relieved. This hotel has always been our first choice when visiting family in the area and will continue to be so as food, room and all the staff are truly helpful, friendly and easy to deal with.
Keep up the good work, here for another week and looking forward to our continued stay.

Regards
Janet (Fusterouau)

1 night stay on Saturday night for a Gala night they had on, which was excellent - lovely food, excellent service, and a good band. Everyone in our party enjoyed it.

Reception and public areas all lovely, staff very friendly and plenty of them. The room I had was a bit dated decor-wise (so many hotels like putting flowery bedding/curtains in the rooms don't they! Is it to make us think we're staying at our Mum's house?), but the bed was comfy, everything as it should be in the bathroom, kettle, iron, tv and radio all good.

Breakfast was fantastic - plenty of food on the buffet and all of it piping hot, good choice of the healthier stuff too. Reception had warned us breakfast was going to be very busy, but it wasn't that bad, and plenty of staff were around.

Glad I braved the roads in the snow. We all had a good stay, and some of us were talking about going back if they do another Gala night. I'd probably join in.

The rooms haven't been refurbished to the same style as the other De Vere Venues. There is a flowerly bed spread and wall paper with old tired bathrooms. As you walk into reception it smacks of the lovely modern De Vere brand but then walk into the bedroom and it's really disappointing. Everything else is great e.g. food, pool but please update the rooms like your other hotels as they are great.
