I stay at the hotel approx. 30-40 times a year. The new self service check in and check out is awful. This new system means that I will look elsewhere for future visits to the area as staff are excellent in the hotel at all my visits. Also, it is a shame that there is no loyalty points programme, as IHG and Hilton offer excellent points.

I stayed here with some co workers for 3 days whilst on a business trip.
To start with there is no easy access with your cases other than to climb several steps.
You are then greeted with a self check in system which doesn't speed anything up and you still need the satff to assist.
However the room was nice and we eat in both the restaurant and bar, both of which were excellent meals.
On check out the invoices are then emailed to you so you dont get the chance to review first, We had asked that the invoices were made out to the company which we were assured they were but on receiving them they had not, this then meant we needed to get a human being to re do the invoices.
They seem very keen on using technology to try to save wages or time but myself and my colleages only found that realistically it slowed down the whole process from check in to check out.
Overall it wasn't a bad hotel but you definately felt like you were a number being processed rather than a customer.

Attended a Bury FC event and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this great hotel. Special thanks to Gill, the hotel manager and her efficient and helpful staff. Fantastic facilities and lovely, clean rooms.

Good clean hotel. They have taken away the friendly welcome by having you check in & out by using computers which spoils it!! The staff were always friendly and helpful but now it was theres the computer for check in go yourself and on leaving drop your key in the box and we will send your email receipt!!

rooms are good, except the ones facing the M66 are a little noisy, and the venetian blind only do not keep the light out very. When used with the roller blind the aremore effective but these are not fitted in all rooms.

This hotel is average. The hotel was clean and rooms have been recently upgraded which was good.
It is a good location just off the motorway.
I used the swimming pool etc which was fine. Nothing amazing to say about it but generally on the whole ok.
I was here for a function- food was average too- nothing special but can't complain

We arrived with our luggage and there were something like 15 steps up to the reception area and as I have a bad chest this was not acceptable. Also, the self check in machines are dreadful and put me off staying at the Village hotels in the future as a warm smile and a pleasant receptionist is much better and a deciding factor in our choice of hotel. The lighting in the room was poor and probably classed as seductive but you cannot read a book or a newspaper once it goes dark as the lighting is not good enough without a struggle which takes the pleasure out of reading! We came for an overnight rest and not to use the spa or leisure facilities so yes we had a break but please take note of our comments. We had lunch out at The Garside in Burrs Country Park and a snack in the evening. The prices for drinks in the bar are expensive and the quality of the food; choice of menu limited and prices are expensive for what you get so we tend to avoid eating at the Village Hotels when we stay in Village Hotels all over the country.

Attended a private function and found all the staff friendly and helpful, great facilities at the hotel and found the whole experience was fantastic. Have already recommended this hotel to friends who are looking at hotels in the area.

Anniversary overnighter, would've been perfect but for out of control rugby team from Leeds whilst coaches/parents drank in the bar! Took the staff two visits before they were brought under control! Shame!!

Hotel was clean and tidy - evening meal was good as part of the added extra you can book on line. Rooms are to dark and can hear motorway noise and the fella next door snoring. Didn't get my bill by email and when I chased it had been overcharged. Refund on the way though.

Big group of noisy children ment little sleep . Things missing out of room as was advertised. Meal on the evening was lovely and it easy to get to the interchange for a tram into Manchester .Staff on reception could be politer when we addressed an issue at breakfast

We were at the village for friends wedding day. Everything was great from the location to the wedding breakfast to the hotel staff making sure rooms were ready hours before 3 thank you. Simple touch screen reception for checking in. However unlike other self service system the village make sure two or three smiling faces are there to help should you have a problem

Great rooms especially after renovation. Good feel and very spacious. All the staff helpful and the hotel comes with plenty of extras such as gym, spa and pool. Stay here more than at home due to business never any problems

My mum& dad booked for us for our first anniversary because it was the same hotel we booked for my wedding day breakfast. For our guest . I would have like to have had breakfast but by time we got ready and came down it was 9.40 so we missed it

I have stayed in several Village Resort hotels and this was by far the best presented room. The hotel was undergoing some refurbishment work during my stay, which did necessitate a rather awkward diversion route to my room, but it was a minor inconvenience on an otherwise fabulous trip.

Another excellent stay at the Village, Bury. Stayed on first floor room, which was superb, with huge Smart tv, very comfortable double bed and gorgeous long settee. Again, the staff were excellent and went above and beyond the call of duty on Monday morning when they arranged for some takeaway breakfast and tea for my coach trip back to Northern Ireland. Super friendly staff, who genuinely went out of their way to cater for me.

Stayed here over the 1st May Bank Holiday. There was a BH deal on for 2 nights B&B with Dinner on first night included- very good value.
Self check-in system sort of worked, but needed staff intervention because we wanted 2 room keys- please add this to the check-in system.
We paid a little more to be upgraded to a 'Upper Deck' room- I'm not sure it's worth it. The room was in the separate building block (linked by an internal bridge). This made it quiet, but with the current refurb in the main building it's a trek from reception.
The room looked like it had been recently refurbed but with some lack of attention to detail, the lock to the bathroom wasn't fitted, the toilet seat was wonky, no hooks in the bathroom, no place to dry swimwear, no bath (replaced by trendy walk in shower which soaks the bathroom door and floor), no place to plug in your phone or tablet to the TV to watch movies etc.
The included dinner was good from a limited menu. Breakfast was ok, some food items felt a bit low budget.
Special mention for the excellent free WIFI, probably the fastest I've come across.
The hotel was busy during our stay due to a number of functions and events. It was impossible to find a quieter area to chat to friends.
Pool and Gym was as good as usual.

I tend to alternate between staying here and the Norton Grange Hotel. After this visit to the Village, I think it's returned to be my preferred choice.

Fantastic treatments, the therapist are all so professional and friendly, Sophie is my personal favourite, but they are all really good.the only down side is the relax room as its small and not that relaxing, there are not enough beds and it's a bit claustrophobic. But the treatments are great!!!

My wife is in a wheelchair and when we checked in found that they had no record of of our confirmed reservation with Expedia for a wheelchair accessible room. They did not have a wheelchair accessible room left at check in time so they upgraded us to a superior room and gave us a complimentary breakfast. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly in the way they dealt with this. Well done Village Hotel Bury.

Make sure if you paid before arrival print a copy - tried to bill me 2x - family room pull out couch not very good kids ended up in bed with us. Breakfast was nice until even with copy of payments tried to charge me again after I sorted the room payments out - swimming pool not open until 10 I think - as we had to check out and back on the road by 11 kids where disappointed- location ok

Good clean hotel, friendly staff. Some noise from a wedding party. We enjoyed the food, upper deck room location. We have stayed in village hotels in other places and the quality of service is always excellent.

A short break away with my partner. Every need was catered for, the room was stunning, the food was plentiful and delicious. one tiny tiny issue was the view from our room that had tyres floating in the stream next to the hotel, however this isn't the hotels problem and did not in the slightest devalue out stay. We loved every second of it and will definitely be returning. Thank you to the Village hotel!

Good pool and gym but everything else is just very average. I use this hotel for business because it's close to my office and therefore very convenient. The village hotel in Ashton ( a short trip up the M60) is a little better but only just.
