LONDONS EMISSIONS ZONE INCREASES FOR ‘WHITE VAN MAN’

From 3rd January 2012 there are major cost increases for vans entering London’s Low Emission Zone. There will now a £100 daily charge to drive in Greater London which will affect around 85,000 van owners. Cars will still be charged £10 per day. Up until January it was only lorries that were required to meet Euro 111 emission standards but this is now extended to vans, minibuses, pick ups and other specialist vehicles weighing more than 1.25 tonnes. Most vehicles registered before January 2002 won’t meet the new requirements so will have to pay up or face a £1000 penalty. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) claims around 37% of vans operating in London won’t be up to scratch.
