Fancy a slave for the day?
Introducing Patrick Hannah:
Have you ever wondered what it might be like to have your own personal slave for a day? Yes, someone who’s willing to undertake any task or work you set him, without complaining or need for payment!
Patrick is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manchester, and joined an expedition to climb the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise funds for our chosen charity Child Reach International. Patrick feels that he took his childhood for granted, with free education, clean water and a health service readily available. However, many children in under developed countries and particular Tanzania where Kilimanjaro is located, do not have these luxuries available. We will travel out before the climb to see those children in need of our help and where previous money raised has benefited children.
His first challenge is to raise £2,244 by the time he leaves in June. He is therefore arranging various fundraising events including charity football tournaments, car washing, cash collections, etc. recently just undertaken a 55 mile walk in Manchester within 24 hours which was a great way to prepare for Kilimanjaro.
Says Patrick:'' I’ve decided that another fun way to raise funds from the local business community is to offer my services as a “Slave for the Day”. I will be prepared to do anything for you and will undertake any work you set me! I can work in your office and have good computer skills and learn very quickly. Or perhaps I can assist in some marketing work or distribute leaflets. I’m currently working part time at the Platinum Suite at Manchester United and so have even learned silver-service waiting, perhaps you need someone to help out as host at an event. Or maybe you just need someone for more physical work such as loading, moving boxes, etc. I will attempt almost any task you set me, as long as it’s legal and decent.''
To have the opportunity of winning my services as your “Slave for the Day” all you need to do is make a donation of £10.00 minimum to Childreach International. Please use the following web-link:
Make your donation and just mention the words “Slave for the Day” in the comments section and we will enter you into the prize draw. If you donate £20 we will put your name into the draw twice, and so on.
The draw will be made at The Best of Bury St Edmunds Coffee Morning at Benson Blakes on Tuesday 19th April 2011, and if you win I will contact you and arrange a mutually convenient date to be your “Slave for the Day”.
