LOVE JAZZ? LOVE CLINT EASTWOOD'S SON KYLE...

coming to Bury to perform:

Go Ahead, Make His Day, See Kyle Eastwood Live in Concert.

Kyle Eastwood grew up in Carmel, California, as the eldest son of actor Clint Eastwood. Kyle's childhood had jazz as its soundtrack, as a child he listened to records of jazz stars such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Miles Davis. He credits his father with introducing him to the joys of the bass line - his first memory of playing music was when Clint taught him how to play the left hand bass line of "Boogie Woogie" while he played the right hand solo over the top.

"

My father always made sure I listened to jazz." Kyle explains "he took me to the Monterey Jazz Festival every year. What was really great was that, being the son of Clint Eastwood, gave me backstage access to all the gigs and I was very fortunate to meet and talk with Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis and all the legends

"

After years of paying his dues gigging around Los Angeles and New York, his debut album ‘From Here to There’ was released on Sony in 1998. Showing his ability as an accomplished composer, Kyle scored soundtracks for Mystic River (winner of two Academy Awards), Million Dollar Baby (winner of four Academy Awards), Flags Of Our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima and Gran Torino.

In 2004, Kyle signed to Candid Records, one of the leading independent jazz labels in the UK and has since toured extensively around the world. His 2010 dates took him through 17 countries to the likes of The Olympia (Paris), The Monterey Jazz Festival (California), The Jurasum Festival (South Korea), the Blue Notes in Tokyo and New York, and Ronnie Scott’s (London).

Today Kyle Eastwood is less and less the son of Clint and more of a universally respected musician and leader in his own right. His music resonates with swing, groove, and funk overtones, he explains "

My roots remain in jazz but I like adding all kinds of different flavours

."

A virtuoso bassist on electric and upright as well as a talented composer with a keen ear for great tunes as well as the subtleties of modern jazz, he is right at the forefront of the contemporary scene, having chosen to immerse himself in the music he loves.

"Kyle Eastwood’s band are a hot live act. Driven by Eastwood’s bass guitar, they inject life into audiences, getting them moving and grooving"

- BBC Music Online.

"Very sharp work. There’s no denying Kyle has imagination and skill"

- The Observer.

Kyle will be playing two fifty-minute sets. Tickets for the event on Wednesday 27th

April are £18 and £15 (with £16 and £13 concessions), available from the apex box office on 01284 758000 or through the website www.theapex.co.uk.
