Members who are interested in helping their employees to remain fit and active at work have formed a Health and Wellbeing Forum. The aim is to share ideas and best practice in improving staff morale, productivity and performance and reducing sickness and absenteeism.

The inaugural meeting of the Health and Wellbeing Forum will be held at The Hunter Club, Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmunds at 4.30pm on Monday 7th November.

This is a recent article from enforbusiness.com (a magazine for Entrepreneurs) that shows how employers are increasingly aware of the benefits both to their staff and their businesses.

More employers implement health and wellbeing strategies.

Growing numbers of employers are placing greater emphasis on promoting access to health and wellbeing initiatives, new research has indicated. According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development/Simplyhealth Absence Management survey, 46 per cent of bosses now have a health and wellbeing strategy in place. The most common benefits provided are access to counselling services and employee assistance programmes. Kelly Morris, spokesperson for Simplyhealth, said, "With pay rises being frozen or restricted, business owners are turning to health and wellbeing benefits to help engage workers and support them through these tough times. Helping to keep staff members happy and healthy is key to driving productivity and to reducing stress and absence in the workplace.”

Please let us know if you would like to attend by return of this email. It would be helpful if you could prepare for the meeting by thinking of what you and your business would like to get out of the Forum and coming with some suggestions. If you prefer, you can email them to me or to Carole Baker - carole@the-self-centre.co.uk in advance.
