I had a great meeting with Jo who is running this scheme: As a keen cyclist and enjoying the virtues of commuting around this town very often by bike I can whole heartedly support this:

Fresh Ways to Work provides FREE sustainable travel consultancy support and funding for small and medium size enterprises (SMEs, less than 250 staff) in Suffolk. Whether you are looking to improve your environmental credentials, to encourage a healthier, happier workforce or simply to save money on travel and transport costs, we would love to hear from you at freshways@suffolk.gov.uk. We are looking for more Bury St Edmunds businesses to work with to help solve travel problems and improve access for staff and clients. It starts with a 30 minute consultation with a specialist Travel Advisor who will talk through your travel and transport issues and find solutions to them, helping identify potential grants and funded initiatives that could benefit your particular circumstances. No business is too small and we have a number of initiatives available for SMEs this year, including:  A grant (up to £1000) for match-funding facilities such as a pool bike, showers or cycle parking  Discounts at local cycle shops  Free cycle training (safety, confidence and route-planning) and bike maintenance sessions  A discounted corporate rate at a local environmentally-friendly taxi firm  Free walking and cycling campaigns, competition material and pedometers  Eco-driving training for reducing fuel costs and carbon emissions  Handy cycle maps showing quiet and pleasant routes  Recognition of your sustainability efforts and a logo for your marketing material We’ll then provide ongoing support to help you access those measures, as we understand that finding the time to do so in a busy company can be challenging – let us do the leg work so you can reap the benefits. If you are based in Suffolk and have fewer than 250 staff, please email freshways@suffolk.gov.uk or call Jo Boyd-Wallis on 01473 265016 to find out how your business could benefit. For more information you can also visit www.freshwaystowork.org.uk. Please note that this project finishes at the end of the year so please contact us at the earliest opportunity of you would like to take part.
