Here in Bridgend County we have areas of natural beauty and wildlife in lots of different places. These provide a great opportunity for you and all the family to discover the great outdoors and have lots of fun.

Here are just two great examples of places you can go:

Kenfig Nature Reserve

Kenfig Nature Reserve is located between Porthcawl and North Cornelly and can take you all the way down the sea at Sker. It is home to all sorts of different wildlife, and is centred around Kenfig Pool. It's a popular place for many different people. Lots of dog walkers use Kenfig Nature Reserve and it's easy to see why. There are plenty of different paths which means you can adjust your route every time you guy. You can take a short walk to the pool and back to the visitors centre, or you can walk all the way to the beach across the dunes. In fact, a good number of surfers will carry their surfboards down across the dunes and surf at Sker Beach. There are also hides for birdwatchers, so you can discover the different birds and other wildlife that live there.

Parc Slip Nature Reserve

Parc Slip Nature Reserve is located near Aberkenfig and has a newly reopened Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre. There are 247 acres to explore and as well as being a great location for dog walkers and wildlife enthusiasts, there are well maintained, traffic free cycle tracks for all you cyclists out there. The Visitor Centre has a coffee shop as well for you to enjoy before, after or instead of exploring the reserve. There is also an events programme, so if you want to learn more about specific wildlife take a look at the different events they put on.

These are just two examples but they are great examples of how you can enjoy the great outdoors with the whole family (dogs included).
