This article is part 5 of a series. See part one. See part four.

The traffic triangle is an alliance between your website, blog and Twitter. It's purpose is to send targeted traffic to your site. Here's an overview of how it works...

  • You tweet about a blog article you've written. This sends visitors to the blog article
  • The blog article is designed to qualify the visitors you get, and sends people in your target market to a landing page on your site
  • The landing page on your site converts qualified visitors into leads (i.e. people fill out a form and ask to be contacted)

The traffic triangle is a simple concept to understand, but not so easy to execute well. Here's how to get the traffic triangle working for you...

Your Objective

The traffic triangle starts with the objective you're trying to achieve? If your aim is to sell a particular product or service, you'll need to first create a landing page (see part 2 of this series) designed to receive these visitors.

Your Blog Article

The purpose of the blog article is weed out those people who aren't in your target market (see part 3 of this series).

It is a qualification step that allows you to shape the traffic you send to your landing page. The landing page is then free to focus on converting the prospect into a lead.

Your Tweet

The purpose of the tweet is to generate traffic to your blog article (see part 4 of this series). The tweet has to capture the attention of the target market, and entice them to the blog article.

You also need to make sure your tweet get retweeted. The best way to guarantee that is to ask your followers to help.
