An article site publishes an article submitted by a third party author, and promotes it to its community of readers.

The biggest article sites have huge communities, and each article you write gives you an additional chance to reach this market.

Article marketing makes use of article sites to publish information about a specific topic of interest to the author's target market. For example, I often write articles about search engine optimisation (SEO).

You can use this type of article to send highly targeted visitors to a landing page (see part 2 of this series) on your own site. This offers you 2 main benefits...

  1. SEO value
  2. You get visitors already in the market for your product/service

Each article you submit will continue to send targeted traffic to your site for years (e.g. I average 36 visitors per month from an article I wrote in 2007).

Here are my tips for writing your own articles...

  • See part 3 for tips on writing blog articles (similar 'rules' apply)
  • The content in each article must be unique. Duplication cancels the SEO value of an article
  • Aim to write one article per day. You'll get better with regular practise
  • Keep a notepad with you at all times and jot down article ideas as they occur
  • Devise a combined article and landing page strategy that work together to get visitors and then convert them into leads or sales
