My first stay since this hotel was rebranded to Mercure, but I was a repeat guest in its previous guise as a Ramada. Many of the original staff remain, as does their excellent level of care and attention to detail.

I was given the Leverhume suite (room 882) on this occasion, and like many of the other larger rooms at the hotel this was spacious with more than enough room to accomodate the comfy chairs as well as the desk and its chair. One big problem with this particular room is the location of the Internet connection at the TV, as this is across the room from the work desk and the cable is not long enough to reach. I was fortunate that I always carry an extension cable, and have suggested to the hotel that they look at getting one for this room on a permanent basis.

This room has an ample bathroom with a single sink and a shower over the bath which has plenty of hot water and pressure, even though this room is on the top floor. On arrival my radiators were full of air (cold and noisy) and one of the work desk lights had failed, but this was quickly addressed by maintenance after a quick call to reception - it's just a pity that the housekeeping staff had not done this prior to my arrival. Another issue on arrival was the complete failure of the TV, movies and in room Internet service, but Openzone was available in the bar and the hotel provided free drinks until service was restored at around 6pm.

The pool and leisure facilities are excellent, and a welcome relaxation after a long drive north. Whilst the steam room is unisex, the sauna's are in the changing rooms, so male only - I'll assume there is a similar one in the female changing rooms.

I was on business so did not use the in room dining or hotel restaurant for dinner on this occasion, as we used pubs and restaurants in the local area - including another visit to the Strawberry Duck (see my TA report on this). Breakfast each day was plentiful and a good range of hot and cold options were available, and the cost was included in the room rate.

The rebranding has done little to impact the great service and excellent staff at this hotel, and I shall certainly be back in the future.

We stayed here overnight before a flight from Manchester airport; having driven up from South Wales. The hotel were very accommodating to our requirements; although they did warn us before we arrived that there were three Christmas parties in the hotel that night, and it may be a little noisy. The check-in was quick and painless; the staff friendly and attentive. We were impressed with Eric, the general manager, and Anthony, the assistant manager. They both made time to speak to us, even with the hotel being very busy.
We had a meal in the evening, and breakfast the following morning - both meals were, in my opinion, good value and good quality.
Once we reached our room, no sound could be heard from any of the parties - the room was clean and airy, and the bed and pillows felt comfortable. My wife and I both had good, uninterrupted sleep, and woke feeling refreshed.
Thanks to the hotel, we seemed to have an "extra" day on our holiday. I`d have no qualms about staying here again.

Spent the day at a work do followed by an evening function then stayed over. Bedroom, restaurant, bar, reception and function rooms, while a little uninspiring, were all clean and well maintined. Bedroom was fairly small.

The one thing that stood out the most was friendliness of all the staff I encountered. All were professional and efficient while being warm and friendly.

Breakfast was very nice - above average for this kind of hotel.

I came to the hotel in december as i had a death in the family, the hotel was near the familys house which made it conveient, when i arrived i was greeted by a very friendly and smiley receptionist who was a pleasure to talk to, the young lady checked us in and was generally very nice, she asked us about our visit to bolton and we explained about the recent news we had recieved she was very sympathetic and re assured us if we needed anything they would be happy to help, she then directed us to our room on the ground floor, she then realised that there were xmas partys near our room and without us having to say anything she moved us completely away from all the noise, which made us feel more welcome and more at ease the rooms was not the best ever, but for the price we paid it was worth it. The staff in breakfast were very nice and friendly and gave a brilliant service, later that morning we took a seat in the bar while waiting for family, the receptionist asked someone to come to the bar however no one came for a good half hour, when they did finally turn up i was served by a very fake lady who looked as if she was to busy to stay around and serve, and got another collegue to serve us. afta a emotional day all we wanted to do was to curl up and have a nice bath, the room was still in a state and had not been cleaned, and no tolieries or towels had been changed, i did not want to make a fuss and left it. i have to say the food here was amazing and a hats of to the chef. The hotels location was the main reason of our stay, have to say not the best hotel but some of thw staff make it alot nicer.

Weekend stay in order to attend a boxing fight night at the Reebok Stadium. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. All the facilities were very good. Spacious complementary car parking. 5 min. taxi to the Reebok Stadium. Can recommend. Will certainly stay here again on next visit to Bolton.

My wife and I had a very pleasant four nights stay in the Mercure Bolton West whilst visiting family in Horwich. We had never visited the hotel before and chose it largely because of its location and its readiness to take our Jack Russell, Boo. The hotel proved to be very comfortable but the most impressive aspect was the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff we had the pleasure to meet. From the moment of our arrival, we were made to feel most welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. It also proved to be possibly the most Boo-friendly hotel which we have visited: everyone seemed ready to welcome our little over-excited exuberant companion and eager to spend time with her. We did not eat evening meals in the restaurant but the breakfasts were wonderful and the staff in the dining room were invariably attentive and friendly. Car parking was plentiful and easy. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
