three words sum up our experience - wow wow wow.
we were married in central avenue suite before holding our reception in the windsor suite.
our designated co-ordinator Marie was injured in a car crash and had to take time off work this lead to some slight issues however when we voiced concern the general manager, Eric Spencer-Smith, he gave us his personal guarantee that he would oversee our special day personally. what followed was nothing short of perfection.
Eric gave us his mobile number and sat in on meetings and tasting evening and every request was granted. he even gave us a few recommendations of his own which was appreciated.
on the day itself we had a lot of guests travel long distances, most stayed in the hotel and Eric and his team allowed them to check in early to get ready.
the day was overseen by Eric, Paul Smith operations manager ( who had moved to another hotel but returned for our day ) , Sue ( Pauls relacement ) and all other high ranking members of staff..
their attention to detail and care went above and beyond our expectations.
the ceremony went beautifully, we and our guests were not just looked after but cared for.
the reception was run by Paul with an army of helpers, the meal ( soup, chicken with haggis and dessert) was served piping hot and it seemed to just appear. all tables received were served in no time so there was no-one finished before others were served.
I had requested trifle for dessert all other had a trio ( pannacotta, chocolate truffle, sticky toffee pudding) which would not have been out of place at a 3 star michelen restaurant.
my trifle stole the show, Eric presented me with a 3 foot tall cocktail glass filled with enough trifle to feed an army, he decorated it with sparklers for extra effect.
previously i had requested that the word individual was forgotten when my dessert arrived but once again Eric went way beyond my dreams.
getting married is a wonderfull thing but planning a wedding can be fraught. Eric and his amazing team made it stress free and easy.
our wedding day was perfect from the moment we woke up until we went to bed thanks to the guys at Mercure Bolton West.
i cant praise or thank them enough, they are simply wonderful.

The surroundings of the hotel were absolutely lovely, with lots of greenery which made it feel really peaceful and relaxing. The spa was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. It had a lovely pool which, although it wasn’t heated, was great for lane swimming, as well as a really nice thermal suite with a sauna and aroma rooms.

However, there were a few areas that could be improved. The room itself felt quite dated and didn’t have a fridge, which would have been useful. Breakfast was also a little disappointing, particularly as there weren’t many halal options available. We opted for the vegan breakfast instead, but unfortunately didn’t find it particularly enjoyable. There were also dogs around the breakfast area, which I personally found quite unhygienic and uncomfortable while eating.

The service could have been a little more attentive too. At breakfast, we were given a menu and then the staff member walked away without explaining how ordering worked or coming back to take our order.

Similarly, when checking in at reception, we were mainly just given our room card. It would have made the experience much smoother if we had been given a quick introduction to the hotel, including where the spa and breakfast areas were located and their opening times. We ended up having to call reception several times to ask for this information.

Overall, the setting and spa were beautiful and really enjoyable, but the rooms, breakfast options and level of service could definitely be improved to make the stay feel more welcoming and organised.

We stayed for three nights for a wedding
The hotel is in a good location
Staff very helpful
The only issue is at night and early morning kids running up and down the corridor
So if you want a peaceful night ,don’t stay here
Why oh why don’t they have security staff preventing this happening

Last reviewed Last Drop 3 years ago and have visited a few times since then, Paid for a 2 day break. Best room i have had, Executive Cottage. Very clean and fresh. Excellent Gym as always use of the spa which is always fun, you are provided with lovely towels on entry. Water was hot in the spa pool but as is usual 2 of the saunas where not working but there are still 3 other still enjoy.
Evening meal was one again good quality and Chef normally has a few things on there that are quite imaginative, Almost certainly you will have to pay extra on top of your allowance but it's not unreasonable.
Breakfast was good and i like that the produce seem of a better standard than some you encounter,
One observation i hope the management will take in the spirit it is given is that the excellent level of service when Franco is not present drops drastically.
The staff seem to lack guidance and do not appear to work as a team, it appears there is a total lack of leadership which is sad to see as it is normally so excellent.
No question that we will be back, Last Drop is a fun place to visit.

I have just come back from a solo weekend here to get away as a burnt out mum.
The room I booked wasn't available so I was told beforehand I'd been upgraded to a suite. I wanted to be able to relax in my room when I wasn't using the facilities but the room had absolutely nothing about it and was incredibly dated. Marks on the walls and curtain. Dark in the midst of a sunny day. Really depressing. Definitely not 4 star. It was clean though so that's the main thing.
The hotel itself I thought was lovely with a rustic feel it was just the rooms that seem to let it down going off other reviews on here.

I ate on the hotel site both nights with dinner at the clocktower grill then the drop inn the next night. Lovely food but so expensive. Breakfast wasn't great, the continental was lovely but the service so slow. I had to go up and ask someone to take my breakfast order 25 mins after I sat down and someone else was also doing the exact same thing after waiting, all while one staff member looked at me a few times and could clearly see I had not been served yet.

I had access to the spa facilities both days and treated myself with treatments. The spa and the team are absolutely incredible. The treatments I had were amazing and both days I came away glowing. Special mention to Evie who did my mud bath. She was so professional whilst also friendly, welcoming and really put me at ease. I wish I could remember the name of the lady who did my facial the day before to give her a mention too because she was just amazing and you can tell they love what they do..

A couple of the saunas in the thermal suite were out of use but I loved the jacuzzi and also went in the sauna and steam room.

All in all I had a fab stay but I would come for the day next time I think as the rooms are expensive for what they are they need to do a revamp.

The spa facilities and the village was great The bed was the most uncomfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on in my life and we have stayed in a lot.
The room was dated and smaller than expected.
