With the hotel being named Georgian house, one would expect it to be Georgian. Well I believe that parts of it are, with a later extension circa 1980's. The sad thing is that the extension isn't in keeping with the Georgian parts.and can look rather tired in parts, that said, it does indeed contain a spa.
I did not stay in the Georgian part and on my next visit will probably opt to say there.
When it comes to bathrooms, it's never a good look to have bath silicone which is uneven or repointed over failed silicone. It never works and puts the bathroom on a downer for both the cleaners and the guests.
Attention should also be paid to the showers to ensure they are fully functional and free of limescale.
The breakfast is the usual running buffet style with the usual full english on offer, served by efficient and attentive staff.
So if you are looking for a hotel in the vicinity of the Macron Stadium, then this is reasonably priced and may fit the bill.

Stayed in the Bolton mercure for 2 nights on business. The rooms were clean and tidy, if a little dated and tired. The staff at the hotel are all friendly and helpful and offer good service.
The bar was reasonably priced and offers a good selection of drinks and snacks.
Breakfast was good each day with plenty of choice of hot and cold options.
Will return again.

Staying overnight the day before visiting the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale we were looking forward to using the indoor pool and having a nice evening meal at the hotel using the deal we had pre-purchased. Unfortunately it was spoilt by hotel staff having a lack of knowledge of meal deals pre-bought online. The reception staff tried to say that the 3 course dinners paid for was an amount on account of whatever the bill came to. Then we were told we could only have food to the value of £22 for our £18 pre paid 3 course dinner. I had to print terms & conditions and even then didn't even receive an apology. The whole attitude of the two reception staff was not customer friendly.
The hotel itself was acceptable and the meal was very nice. The deal we had in fact bought was on the basis of a reduced menu.

Stayed 2 nights mid week attending local wedding. Very helpful staff who assisted wedding prep. Room on 4th floor massive and worth asking for. Leisure access easy with good steam, sauna, jacuzzi and poo,

We stayed with a group of family and friends to attend a local wedding. We were all given a warm welcome, comfortable rooms with comfy beds and good choice of breakfast. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

This hotel is older but the rooms are spacious, darkening curtains, bed is WONDERFULLY SOFT and comfortable, daily cleaning service, FULL COOKED BREAKFAST, Wonderful kind staff!! Easy access to motorways. Full Shopping center with restaurants, movie theater, and bowling alley all a short drive away! I would recommend a painter to make touchups throughout the hotel and rooms.

The hotel is easy to find and near to the motorway.
Upon arrival, the staff were very friendly and check in was hassle free. There's a large car park at the rear of the hotel for guests.
Room prices are reasonable (£55 a night but obviously this varies due to demand). The rooms are a little dated, but nevertheless are clean with large beds and all expected facilities (TV, tea making facilities, hairdryer, en suite bathroom etc). There was no air-conditioning in our room, but a fan was quickly delivered to us when we asked. There is free WiFi in the hotel, but you have to sign up and agree for marketing to be sent to you to access it. I didn't agree to this, so cannot comment on the quality of the WiFi.
We ate in the bar area in the evening. The staff member on duty was friendly and helpful. The prices are expensive (£15 for burger and chips, £8 for a panini, over £4 a pint), but the food was admittedly very good. We probably would have tried to find somewhere cheaper to eat if we knew the local area around the hotel.

We stayed 1 night in room 211. I had asked for a room with a walk in shower if possible and not far from the entrance. Both of these requested were granted - thank you.
Check in was easy and problem free. 2 staff on reception so others could check in as well. There is a bar just off reception which was empty but looked clean enough.
Our room was ok. Could do with updating though. There was an iron, ironing board, hairdryer, kettle, trouser press, flat screen tv, phone, desk/dressing table and chair, wardrobe, small table and bucket chair, tv unit and very large comfy bed. Every where was clean and no smells. Our room over looked the front road and although you could hear the traffic with the window open it wasn't a major issue.
It would have been nice to have a folder with all the information about the pool/bar/restaurant/free wifi/check out etc in it as to bits and pieces all over (menu for room service/something clipped to key card/something on the tv menu).
We decided to go and eat in the bar near reception as room service wanted £5 tray charge and some draught beers were not avaible. We ordered 2 burgers and chips. The food was lovely although in my opinion very expensive at £16 each. £32 for 2 burgers and chips is an outrageous price for a hotel of that standard. I had a J2o and lemonade and my husband had a pint of boddingtons and it was over £8. So maybe not the cheapest place to eat or drink. The lady who served us was lovely and I wasn't feeling overly well after a long drive and emotional funeral offered to get me iced water and told me to ask for a fan for the room.
We went to reception and asked for a fan and it was swiftly brought to the room by a nice, polite male staff member. The room was very warm and there is no air con.
We both slept well and packed ready to leave.
Checkout was swift and efficient. The man who checked us out checked if we needed a VAT receipt and thanked us for staying.
The car park is large and to the rear of the building. There are a few disabled spaces at the front.
Would we stay again, yes if we were in the area and could get the same room rate. Would we pay £32 for 2 burgers again? - No. Did we pay £15 each for breakfast? - No
In summary - staff welcoming, room clean enough - food and drink expensive.

We were staying here as we had organised a family gathering nearby to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. It is in a very convenient location for motorway for family members travelling from Scotland, Leicester, Ireland, Nottingham and Oxford as well as locally. We stayed four nights and were very satisfied - room was lovely, bed very comfy and the food was excellent. The only fault was the service in the dining room in the evening, the waiters/waitresses were really good and I know were a little embarrassed at the time it took the food to arrive at table, when the food eventually arrived I have to say it was very good indeed. All the staff at this hotel were extremely pleasant and helpful which makes all the difference to any hotel.

Warm and friendly welcome at the Mercure Bolton . I had a family room which even with three beds had room to move in! I ate in the restaurant , food was nicely presented and cooked well. The hotel has lots of parking and is a good base to explore the local area which has good walking nearby. I would have scored the rooms more highly but the the rooms and the hotel could do with some refurbishment.
