This restaurant is just over the road from the Octagon Theatre and so is very handy. The owner likes to greet every one of it's customers. The food is freshly cooked and reasonable portions at reasonable prices.

I love to go here when I want fish and chips. They have great offers on, the food is good and the staff are efficient and friendly always there with a welcoming smile. My mum and I go regularly. I would highly recommend. Plus they do trips out and you can go before you go to the theatre as they do a set menu.

The Olympus is a lovely experience. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. You are a welcomed at the door with a smile and shown to your table. It is spotlessly clean, and sometimes there is a pianist playing the grand piano

Being Scottish I was sure all the best chip shops were north of the border but have to admit I was wrong.Visited Bolton for first time yesterday and was lucky enough to go to Olympus with a group. Was amazed by great welcome and lovely surroundings- a grand piano in a "chippy"!- but it was the delicious food ,really fresh fish just like in the fishing village I used to live in that finally convinced me I had struck chippy gold. So welcoming and we were encouraged to come in again just for a rest while waiting for our coach after shopping. I am considering moving to Bolton so I can come every week!! A big thanks for the big welcome

Found this place by accident. As soon as we walked through the door the staff were welcoming. We had the choice where to sit. There is a gentleman playing live music on the piano. It's delightful. We had a fish meal and a moussaka. Both were delicious. We will have to have a walk now. All food is home made. There is a really large choice. I am looking forward to eating here again.

A gem in the rough of road works and constant development that is Bolton. Walk through the doors to 1920s style restaurant reminscient of Blackpool's Winter Garden cafe. Be serennaded by a fantastic piano player that invites you to sit and while away a wet day with a chip shop menu and good prices that make you look twice considering the lovely surroundings and suit and tie dressed staff. Would highly recommend searching this place out if not just for the ambience and the surprise of this little gem.

I had the haddock meal which included chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and pot of tea. I round of bread and butter (Margarine), not even a full sized slice. Two small cups of tea. My wife had Scampi and chips, bread and marg and tea. Quality of food was fine, but portions small, still hungry afterwards and at as near to £20 as makes no difference, poor value for money. The owner should pay a visit to the Swan in Southport, he'll find out what good value is.

Never visited Bolton until last Thursday. Got off the train hungry and spotted the
" Majestic Olympus " ( well you can hardly miss it, its enormous) Decided to have Lunch and was greeted at the door like an old friend, shown to a table for one, and handed a menu. This is a singular Fish and Chip Restaurant - modern decor - spotless - carpeted - airy - no fish and chip smell and I'm not codding ( get it ) at its centre a piano !!!. Ordered the Cod meal consisting of Fish Chips Mushy peas ( served in ramekin dishes - nice touch - bread and butter - pot of tea - Service was very fast and the meal superb. Staff very friendly and attentive ( even saw one of the Waiting Staff helping a lady to put on her coat, - very impressive ! ) Upon leaving the door was opened for me and I was thanked for my custom. Made a point of telling the Guy on the door how much the food and service were appreciated. To sum up - best Fish and Chip restaurant I have ever visited. will be back with her indoors. well worth the trip for Food of the Gods.Well done Olympus - χίλια ευχαριστώ

Ate here 7/2/17 with my husband and our toddler, along with my two sisters, for lunch.

The food - The food was fine. My fish and chips were delicious and very filling. The portion since was plentiful. I was going to have a pudding afterwards but chose not to in the end as I wouldn't have been able to fit it in! That's not a complaint as the food I had was well cooked and tasted great, it was just filling. My husband had sausage and chips and he said it was good too. My two sisters did complain that their fish was a bit soggy but I didn't have that problem with mine at all.

Price - very happy with how much we paid. Cod, chips and peas (which I and my two sisters ate) was £7.70 each which was more than reasonable considering the size of the meal. My son had a small portion of chips for £2.80 and my husband's jumbo sausage and chips was only a couple of pounds more than that.

Service - We were seated straight away and the waiter made sure our large party was sat together by movingly tables around, he also made sure we had a highchair which was nice. The food did take a while to come out which we wouldn't have minded about if they'd given us our drinks at an earlier time. We only ordered soft drinks so to have them come out just before the food when we'd already been waiting a long time was a little annoying. Still staff were always smiling and polite.

Restaurant - the decor was simple and unfussy. Restaurant was very clean as were the toilets. I liked the addition of the piano and we got to listen to some live music which was nice.

Overall this is a place I would definitely visit again. Simple food done very well. Recommended.

Great service defy you to try to get your coat off before the waiver comes to help. Old fashioned manners but thoroughly modern premises our grandchildren love it. Takes going out for fish & chips to a whole new level.

Spacious place with friendly staff. Food was very good and service was quick. Pianist playing which is something different! And the teapots didn't dribble!

I am not a food snob; and very rarely, if at all, criticise anything that's put before me.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Staff at the Olympus are well aware of this and are always courteous and tentative from arrival through to departure.

This is very good, honest, reasonably priced chips n fish; in very clean and pleasant surroundings.

I've been there on several occasions and never been disappointed; only the 'hard to please' would think differently.

Thankyou

So we'd read a dozen tripadvisor reviews on this place and it was virtually next to the Octagon Theatre where we'd seen a show so went. So where do I start? Service I suppose.

Service: The Greek matriarch took my order. She was attentive, got the order completely right and made me feel welcome. (You order and pay at the counter and it's table service from there on). The door was opened for us on arrival and as we left. I normally balk at the obsequious toady and completely fake "have a nice day" culture, but this was sincere. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and authentic. I wanted to take them all home.

Food: They do some HUGE pieces of fish (like back when I was a lad). Fish and chips is their staple, but there's also an array of Greek cuisine including my all time favourite Moussaka - yum.

Bonus: Their pianist on duty yesterday (11 Feb 2017) played loads of standards that I love so much. I would have happily paid twice what I paid for my grub alone just to hear this guy with an empty stomach. I'd heard the place described as "posh fish and chips" but this wasn't posh - it was magical. My first trip to Bolton and if this is the only thing worth seeing in the town, it's enough to make me want to return.

What a great little treasure this place is. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and early theatre dinner is fantastic to eat here. Very clean but you would also be stepping back into time along with class where the Art Deco feel and the piano played by a staff member and the staff are always welcoming. I'll definitely be attending again and again when I'm in Bolton. The menu choice is great and reasonably priced and it's not only fish and chips! I've been twice so far - ty for the lovely experience
