I needed to spend a night in Exeter to pick up a car. The Holiday Inn Express is a very convenient and comfortable hotel, close to the city centre. The location, close to the River Exe means it is much lower than the city centre, so expect a steep walk back to the restaurants in the centre, although the Quay area is more or less on the same level.

Arrived early and was allowed to check in early thankfully got the food room key but wasn’t told where to go etc so we had to guess didn’t know that there was an easier way to get to the car park which was via the lift so had to go outside and round which could have been easier.
The stay was lovely the room was nice but had cobwebs large ones by the telly
The bathroom was lovely but shower leaked.
There was a party the night we stayed and it was loud it would have been nice to be pre warned there was party on that night so we knew what to expect. The area and hotel was nice! I’d come again

I liked the lighting in the room and the different types of pillows.

Good hotel in centre of Bolton. Easy to get amenities and walkable from the station. Good comfortable bed and a nice modern shower room

The staff was extremely friendly and willing to help. The only trouble is the dust apparent in the room; the main areas (bed, bathroom, closet) were cleaned. However, the bedside lamp and remote had significant dust collected, so they have not been seen in a while. There was also a stain on the carpet. As this was only for a night, it was acceptable lodgings to stay. There is scaffolding near the hotel that has uneven pavement (and holes!) so comfortable shoes is advised.

Holiday in is an absolute credit too bolton, the rooms are clean, modern and have everything you could want without having to ask at reception constantly. The food was of very high standard but affordable and available all day.
The staff where polite and kind. Jayne the breakfast host was a particular stand out, so friendly and attentive. A bright ray of sunshine on a bleak December morning, nothing was too much trouble. I can not recommend this place enough. 10/10

As an American traveling around England, I was happy to see a familiar hotel brand name. The Holiday Inn in Bolton is a great stop. The beds are comfy and spacious (rare find in the UK), the food is great, and the location is close to almost anything you need to do in Bolton. The best part of this hotel is the staff. I’ve stayed at this location a few times over the years and everyone is fantastic. The front desk, manager, food, and house keeping staff are always extremely polite and super helpful.
10/10 this hotel should be your first and only option in the Bolton area!
