The free to attend event will take place at BCU’s Curzon Building on 9 October from 9.30 am to 1pm.
It will provide insight into sector requirements, routes to market, and the support available to businesses considering diversification.
Attendees can hear directly from industry experts, explore common challenges and success factors, and gain a clearer understanding of where manufacturing SMEs can add value within Health and MedTech supply chains.
It is organised as part of the West Midlands Investment Zone Supply Chain Transition Programme.
Birmingham City University, as part of the Supply Smarter West Midlands consortium, is helping to deliver a £12.5 million Transformation Fund to support manufacturing businesses and create high-quality jobs across the region.
The Supply Chain Transition Programme gives manufacturing SMEs access to fully funded expert support to help them diversify, strengthen their supply chains, and collaborate with the region’s leading OEMs and key customers.
Professor Hanifa Shah OBE (pictured), Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Enterprise, Engagement and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) at BCU, said: “As part of the Supply Smarter West Midlands Consortium, BCU strongly welcomes the £12.5 million investment from in the Investment Zone Supply Chains Transition Programme made by the West Midlands Combined Authority.
“This investment will complement the £15 million investment into the West Midlands CreaTech Frontiers Cluster, including £1.8m of grants led by BCU, so the region now has an unprecedented opportunity to grow its capability and position itself as a national and global centre of excellence for both manufacturing and creative technologies.
“This will help to future-proof the region’s manufacturing and creative technology base by helping hundreds of SMEs pivot into these high-growth clusters, securing high tech jobs for our graduates and helping to power prosperity both in Birmingham and across the West Midlands.”
