The charities included Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Good Hope Hospital Charity, Heartlands Hospital Charity, and Solihull Hospital Charity.
The Charities rely on donations from organisations, local companies, and individual fundraisers to provide added extras to patients and their families across the four hospital sites.
This year one superhero team, project management company WT Partnership, has pledged its support for a second year.
The company’s staff raised £3,300 last year for Heartlands Hospital Charity and Good Hope Hospital Charity’s work in our Children’s Departments. This year the company has pledged to support the Children’s Radiotherapy Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
The work the Charity does for children being treated across University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which includes all four hospitals, is focused on supporting patients and their families through a difficult time.
This includes everything from state-of-the-art equipment to distraction toys and games to occupy patients.
In recent years, the Charity has undertaken ward refurbishments to transform children’s wards into less scary places and installed projectors creating interactive games onto waiting room floors to keen them entertained, reducing the stress for them and their family.
Thomas Brennan, director of WT Partnership Birmingham, said: “WT Partnership Birmingham has been working with many local NHS Trusts for several years, improving patients’ experience.
“With the NHS’s 75th birthday last year, we felt that it was a great opportunity to do more and give to our local hospitals.
“The team really got behind the idea, and we took part in several events that raised money for the Charity. We have had people taking part in everything from a mud run to a cake sale. This year we decided to continue our fundraising and focus on the Children’s Radiotherapy Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”
Mike Hammond, charity chief executive, said: “The money that is donated to us makes a huge difference to patients, their families, and the staff. Organisations, companies like WT Partnerships, and individual donors are all true superheroes. Without them we couldn’t do what we do to help our patients when they need us most.”
