Following the success of the first two episodes, St Giles Hospice is pleased to announce the third episode of We’re Dying to Tell You Something is now live, launching in July to celebrate why community support matters so much.

We’re Dying to Tell You Something is a four-part series created by Birmingham City University students Maya Davis and Kyle Salmon in collaboration with St Giles Hospice in Whittington, Staffordshire.

Episode 3, ‘Raising Every Penny’, features three of the thousands across the community keeping St Giles’ doors open. Extreme fundraiser James Lewis from Rugeley talks about his 430-mile run from Paris to Rugeley in 2025 to raise funds for the hospice that cared for his father. He is currently undertaking his latest challenge, running and dribbling a football thousands of miles from Africa to Rugeley to raise further funds for the charity.

The podcast also features Charlotte Mills, Community Fundraiser from St Giles’ fundraising team, supporting individuals and groups across the region, and Lorraine Ward, Regional Manager of St Giles’ retail network, who brings decades of retail leadership experience to the charity shops that generate vital income.

The episode explores how St Giles raises close to £10 million a year, why community support is essential when less than a quarter is funded by the government, and the stories behind the fundraisers and volunteers who make it happen.

Elinor Eustace, Chief Executive of St Giles Hospice, said: “We’re thrilled with how the first two episodes have been received. This third episode shows why the generosity of our community is so vital. James, Charlotte and Lorraine embody the spirit of support that keeps St Giles running.”

Natalie Lewis, Head of Marketing and Strategic Communications at St Giles Hospice, added: “The progress we’ve made with this podcast has been remarkable. Episode 3 tells inspiring stories about fundraising and retail that really demonstrate why community support matters so much.”

The podcast was recorded at St Giles Hospice in October 2025 and created by BCU media students as part of their course under the guidance of Senior Lecturer Meera Darji and Editor Dan Whitehouse.

The final episode will launch in October for Hospice Care Week, featuring a community nurse and family member sharing their experiences of end of life care.

We’re Dying to Tell You Something is available now on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. You can find out more at https://www.stgileshospice.com/podcast.
