Reform UK’s County Organiser for the North East West Midlands, Irene Henery, spent Sunday 3rd August 2025, in the parish meeting hall of Sacred Heart and Holy Souls Catholic Church in Acock’s Green fundraising for March 4 Life UK. Irene is a staunch Catholic who believes that every life is precious in the eyes of God and has been volunteering at churches since 1997. A coffee morning with a raffle raised £350 for the charity, despite a gift hamper being stolen the night before from church premises.
The coffee morning was organised by Stephanie Dixon, a busy mother who wanted to raise funds for March 4 Life’s next event outside the Houses of Parliament on Saturday 6th September 2025. Thousands of supporters are expected to march in Westminster, London for the pro-life cause and coaches have been organised to transport supporters from the Midlands to London on the morning of 6th September 2025.
Many more marchers are expected this year, to protest against recent decisions in the House of Commons to pass legislation allowing abortions up to birth and to legalise assisted dying.
Irene said, “Life begins at the moment of conception. Every human life is special to God. Mothers must cherish the baby in their wombs as a very special gift from God. The elderly and the sick, or disabled, are equally cherished by God and their lives must not be thrown away as if they have no value in society. In Canada where assisted suicide has been legal for some years, there is a huge pressure on these vulnerable sections of society to die prematurely in order to save costs and not be a burden on society or their loved ones.”
Irene, a qualified accountant and successful entrepreneur, was appointed by Reform UK as County Organiser/Coordinator recently, and will be looking after 5 constituencies in Birmingham, namely Ladywood, Erdington, Perry Barr, Hodge Hill & north Solihull and Sutton Coldfield. She will assist in the set up of local branches and recruitment and selection of candidates to run in local elections next year and the next general election, expected to be in 2029. Irene previously stood as a parliamentary candidate for Birmingham Ladywood in the General Election in July 2024 for Reform UK. She has confirmed that she will be standing in the Walsall Council elections on 7th May 2026.
