The refreshed platform has been designed to better reflect the professionalism and prestige of the SBA while making it easier for users to discover exhibitions, explore artwork, access educational opportunities and engage with the wider botanical art community.
Combining bespoke page designs with improved navigation, faster performance and a mobile-first approach, the website provides a more intuitive experience for both existing members and those discovering the society for the first time.
SBA was established as a registered charity in 1995 to promote the appreciation, conservation, and artistic representation of plants, with a focus on endangered species and natural habitats.
Botanical art combines scientific accuracy with artistic creativity, capturing both the form and spirit of plants, and remains relevant today for education, biodiversity awareness, and environmental stewardship.
A key focus of the project was ensuring the website better serves the SBA's diverse audience.
Artists can more effectively showcase their work and raise their profiles, while students benefit from improved access to learning opportunities. Members can more easily connect with exhibitions, events and exclusive content, helping strengthen engagement across the society.
The redesigned structure also makes it simpler for prospective members, supporters and visitors to explore everything the SBA has to offer, creating clearer pathways into the organisation.
Claire Ward, president of the Society of Botanical Artists, said: “We were looking for a modern and fresh look for our site,
“The website transformation balances the SBA's rich heritage with a modern and accessible digital experience, ensuring the organisation can continue to support botanical artists for years to come.
“As well as improving the visitor experience, the redesigned website gives the SBA team greater flexibility to manage and expand content without requiring ongoing developer support, helping the organisation respond quickly to new opportunities and keep its community informed.
“Built with future growth in mind, the platform provides a strong foundation for exhibitions, educational programmes, artist showcases and membership initiatives as the society continues to grow its influence in the UK and internationally.”
Craig Murphy (pictured), managing director at ALT Agency, said: “Our goal was to create a website that better serves artists, students and members alike, while giving the SBA team greater flexibility to keep content fresh, engage its community and support future growth.”
