London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway is recruiting Technicians to join our engineering team at Tyseley Depot, supporting maintenance across our Class 172, 196 and 170 fleets and helping us deliver reliable rail services across the region.

Tyseley Depot has recently benefitted from a £70m programme of upgrades, enhancing our facilities, equipment and operational capability. These roles will support the ongoing maintenance and performance of our fleet.

Role Summary: Technician

  • Location: Tyseley Depot
  • Contract: Permanent, full time
  • Shift Pattern: 7 day rota
  • Salary: £49,242

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, repair and modify traction and rolling stock.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance in line with set specifications.
  • Attend in service failures (where competent) and act as Designated Person when required.
  • Record work accurately using the Maintenance Management System. • Follow all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental processes.
  • Mentor apprentices, new entrants and contractors where relevant. • Recommend improvements to working practices, documentation or tooling.
  • Carry out other tasks within competence as required. 

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Level 3+ qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of LNWMR Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) desirable.
  • Full driving licence and railway vehicle authority.
  • PTS/Designated Person/AP training (if required).
  • Power plant equipment training (advantageous).
  • IT literacy; MMS experience a bonus.
  • Additional relevant skills (e.g., lathe operation, carriage repair, painting).
