Mustapha Matura version of this 115 year old play is far evolved from the Irish 1907 original. The Playboy of the West Indies will transport you to the Caribbean with steel drums, palm trees and  Trinidad local speech.

Set in a bar, a young vibrant stranger comes into a rural village with a tale to tell, proceeding to enthral and captivate  the ladies, whilst disturbing the tranquility of the men and throwing the soon to be wed spirited landlady of the bar into doubt.

This humorous and dark classic with have you enchanted within the sandal .

Gleanne Purcell-Brown's portrayal of landlady Peggy is second to none who’s delivery and integrity reminds you of every strong woman you know. But it was Derek Elroys take on bumbling Stanley which had the audience laughing and cheering .

Michael Taylor’s set design and attention to detail perfectly makes you feel the sand between your toes, and Natalie Pryces costume design brings authenticity it’s own tale.   The award-winning Clement Ishmael brings a score with is sure to get to moving in your seat and feeling the Caribbean vibes in your feet.

If you want escapism, romance, scandal and intrigue then Playboy of the West Indies is for you .
