A West Midlands NHS Trust boss has been named globally as one of the top 30 inspirational and impactful HR leaders for her work in helping to change the law around miscarriage leave and her leadership in supporting young care leavers.
Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust’s chief people officer Raffaela Goodby was named in the first CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) HR30 list.
She has led on the development of the first ever Baby Loss policy within the healthcare service and led an initiative, the Universal Family Programme, offering thousands of young care leavers (previously looked-after children) career opportunities in the NHS.
She was nominated for the honour by fellow HR professionals in recognition of her leadership and the love and support she has offered through mentoring to her peers.
The CIPD HR30 is a newly created annual list that celebrates the top 30 “people professionals” who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and impact within their organisation and in the wider HR profession.
Raffaela said: “It’s an honour to receive this acknowledgement from the CIPD and to be on the list with so many people I love and admire and to fly the flag proudly for the NHS people profession.
“I am privileged to work closely so many amazingly talented people across the NHS and Local Government, with supportive clinicians and Trade Unions and with partners like Tommy’s Charity, The Miscarriage Association, the Care Leaver Covenant signatories and the Healthcare People Management Association.
“No leader exists in isolation, and I am lucky to have a skilled supportive ‘village’ including CIPD, in mine.”
