The Regional Driving Assessment Centre (RDAC) was set up as a charity in 2007 to support the continuation of mobility services linked to driving accessibility.

Their primary focus is supporting people with accessibility needs linked to a medical condition, disability or progressive conditions.

Now the charity has expanded to provide eight centres offering a range of services and support, working closely with other mobility centres in the Driving Mobility network with the mission statement of ‘Freedom to Move’.

Trustees willing to join the RDAC board must commit to attend five meetings a year, some induction visits and the willingness to share their expertise.

Trustees would be part of a supportive board of experienced volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds.

RDAC will support new trustees with an induction to the organisation, opportunities to meet people we support and be part of the wider colleague team.

The UK volunteers’ week running from 1 to 7 June, has been running since 1984, providing a platform to thank volunteers and highlight the impact of their work across communities.

Rob Heap, chair of trustees said: “I started volunteering not knowing what difference it would make, and I have enjoyed it more than I thought.

“The charity has needed our support, like most businesses there are challenges but also real rewards, the work we do really does make a difference to people's everyday lives.”
