“This is what we should all be dealing with now.”

MP Andrew Mitchell said, “I strongly support your campaign to take a sculpture of knives that have been decommissioned to London. I am extremely concerned about knife crime in Britain and have sadly seen it in the Royal Town also.”

Our West Midlands community is tired of violence. We are tired of our young people being injured, and dying, from knife crime, gangs and drugs. We are tired of living with the fear, no matter what our age might be.

With all the current complexity of the world situation, it is easy for some of our communities to be forgotten.

What we need is:

  • Better Youth Work in our Areas,
  • Increased Community Police Presence
  • And a Concerted Campaign to encourage Young People not to Carry Knifes for their own safety.

Like all people of Faith, we stand for PEACE. We want to protest aganist the loss of detached youth work and encourage all services that bring HOPE.

We want to build a cross out of de-activated knifes, creating a large metal symbol. Then we can march it down to London and place it in the view of our seat of Goverment.

The faith community in our area, from Sutton Coldfield to Kingstanding and Nechells, is making a stand against knife crime. We are tired of the appalling violence being visited on the young people of the area.

With the support of local MPs, the police and many faith groups, members of Sutton Park Methodist Circuit are making a pilgrimage to Westminster. To show our commitment we are walking the

 114 miles during Holy Week (14th – 19th April)

THIS IS NOT ABOUT PARTY POLITICS – everyone agrees that something must be - and can - be done. “Even one death is a blight on our society.”

Along with a concerted campaign to discourage the carrying of knives, we are passionately asking for better youth work, improved policing and a move towards a culture of hope for our youth.

As the issue is now a national concern, we need to raise awareness of how it affects us here. We are setting out to prove that we are only walking distance from London – to unite everyone in this call to action.
