
Stevie Quick is a Theatre Director, performer, writer and artist. He is also an award-winning photographer. He has been blazing a trail across stages and spoken word events for some time. He has graced the boards of The Old Rep Theatre in Birmingham.
He appeared recently at the popetry slam at the Arena Theatre for the Wolverhampton Literature Festival.
He also recently appeared with PoARTry at The Artyard in Cradley Heath, Ryhmes and Readings at Robertos in Halesowen and The People`s Platform in Stourbridge.
Starting with theatre-first love-he has worked across the UK leading his own theatre company “Theatre 910” in many ventures including Open Air Shakespeares in Worcester at The Commandery and The Greyfriars. The Company have performed in Yorkshire, Wales and Scotland.
As a director Stevie has directed the re-creation of the funeral procession of Prince Arthur of 1502 at Worcester Cathedral which amongst processing through the town meant persuading the Dean to allow an actual horse to be ridden into the Cathedral...
He designed and directed a show for Leeds Art Gallery, The Whithorn Trail in Scotland
And describes his theatre as “usually anywhere but in a theatre...” and very often many of his casts are new to the theatre.
Outwith directing he performs, has been in several TV and film and theatres across the UK.
He was “Death” for the original Ghost walk of Worcester and stalked the streets for at least ten years.
His current project is a more personal one where he is using his poetry to create a show which will be performed in the St.Ives Festival later this year.
Which leads us to writing-Stevie writes poetry and has performed it around the country. He takes part in evenings and Slams coming third in last year’s Slam at Shrewsbury and reaching the semi-finals at the Wolverhampton Slam this year.
His poem “Home’ was used in conjunction with a dance piece for Worcester LitFest.
He is currently working on a “joint” show with his ancestor Henry Quick-( the poet of Zennor 1835) using his poetry and Henry’s to create a show which will be performed in the St. Ives Festival later this year.
You can find him regularly reading at Stourbridge(People’s Platform), Halesowen,(Roberto’s) Worcester.(Speakeasy) and branching out into Wolverhampton (where he performed a one man show for the Wolverhampton Original Literature Festival some years ago.
He’s had photographs exhibited in Israel, Dubai and at the NEC.
