For one night only, on Monday 7 December, Joe will be accompanied by Birmingham’s own illustrious choir, The Full Fatt Sound.
Each act will do their set and then incorporate the choir - either with a number, backing track or something else.
Joe’s relationship with The Alex, and journey into fame, began back in 2003 when he stepped into the shoes of Rusty Charlie in The Alexandra’s Stage Experience production of Guys and Dolls.
Joe then continued to tread the boards in The Alex youth productions - Fame, Summer Holiday, West Side Story and Copacabana - until 2007.
His connection to The Alex continued as he worked as a front-of-house usher from 2008 to 2010 and later, having established his stand-up comedy career, Joe filmed his More, More, More! How Do You Lycett? tour at the theatre in October 2022.
Lycett said: “The Alex is where I fell in love with the stage. It’s a special and magical place to me, and I’m delighted and terrified to be bringing this one-off show here.
“But the main thing to know is that if you buy an ice cream the spoon is in the lid.”
Theatre director Simon Creed said: “We are really excited to be welcoming back Joe to The Alex this December and presenting an evening of comedy and music to audiences as part of our 125th birthday celebrations.
“This year is all about highlighting the history of The Alex, and Joe is absolutely a part of that, so we're thrilled that he's joining us to mark this milestone year and celebrate the theatre's history with the people of Birmingham.”
Tickets for An evening with Joe Lycett & Friends with The Full Fatt Sound are on sale now.
