Recovery is a poetry anthology that is unlike any other poetry anthology out there. As the name suggests, Recovery is about recovering from setbacks, addiction, mental health disorders, suicide ideation, childhood trauma, sexual assaults and political attacks. It is also about hope, love, friends and chosen family.

Chosen family is the reason that Melissa is here today. Without them, Melissa wouldn’t be releasing this collection. Her next collection will be called ‘Let’s talk about love and friendship’. A collection dedicated to her chosen family. Melissa said, “My chosen family saw me at my worst and never let me go. Instead of deserting, they supported me through my ordeals. That I will fully be grateful for”.

As we head into Pride Month, Melissa’s schedule is getting busier and busier. Here in Worcester, she is part of Worcestershire Lit Fest and Fringe annual festival. It is happening online and in person from the 7th June to the 13th June. Melissa is performing at several events across the week. However, before that Melissa is part of the Queer Showcase Art Exhibition on Friday 5th June 6pm to 9pm at Boston Tea Party. She will also be part of Redditch Pride on Saturday 6th June. With Queer Voices online and in person events across the month before Worcester City Pride Awareness Day on the 27th June.

With a few more performances left this month, buy a book that will literally change a life.
