Gifts in wills of any size can help fund appeals and projects, from revolutionary life-saving research and equipment to refurbishing wards that make hospitals feel less clinical.

Over the years, the hospital charity has been able to fund a range of projects across the four hospital sites thanks to the gifts received in Wills, including the refurbishment of Solihull’s Children's Department, Cyberknife, a £3.5 million state-of-the-art radiotherapy machine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, and incubators for premature babies at Good Hope and Heartlands Hospital.

These projects have helped save and change lives and provide the best possible care to patients and their families.

A statement from the charity said: “By leaving a gift in your Will, you are helping your family in the future as well as contributing to the future of healthcare at your local hospital.

“As our population is growing and living longer, leaving a gift in your Will could lead to a future with better physical and mental health for the people of Birmingham, the West Midlands and beyond.”

Free Wills Month takes place twice a year, in March and October, and gives people the opportunity to write or update their Will for free with a participating solicitor.

The hospital charity has partnered up with local solicitors, HBC Solicitors in Solihull and Talbots Law in Birmingham to cover the cost of a basic standard or mirror will.

The hospital charity has also partnered with Octopus Legacy to provide a free Will online, with the interview taking just 15 minutes.

There is also the opportunity to leave a gift to the hospital charity whilst writing your Will to help support future projects that make a difference for many families in the future.
