This year’s event is set to take place on May 11, promising an unforgettable day of cycling along the picturesque canal network of the Midlands.

Barrie Hodge, head of fundraising at St Basils said: "We're incredibly excited to bring back the Canal Cycle Challenge for 2024.

"It's not just about the thrill of the ride, but the impact it has on the lives of young people facing homelessness.

“By participating, you're not only embarking on an adventure but making a real difference in your community."

Participants will have the opportunity to choose between two scenic routes spanning either 20 or 50 miles across the enchanting West Midlands canal system.

Kicking off and culminating at the charity’s vibrant hub in Digbeth, cyclists can expect breathtaking views, perfect for those coveted Instagram moments, and moments of camaraderie with fellow riders.

Barrie continued: “With the Canal Cycle Challenge, it's about more than just the journey; it's about the shared experience and the chance to champion a cause close to our hearts.

"It's an adventure where every pedal stroke counts toward providing vital support and resources for vulnerable young people facing the prospect of homelessness."

Funds raised through the Canal Cycle Challenge will directly benefit St Basils' essential services, including supported accommodation, emergency shelter, care leaver support, employability programs, and homelessness prevention initiatives.

These services are lifelines for thousands of young individuals in the Midlands who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

Registration for the Canal Cycle Challenge 2024 is now open, inviting cyclists of all skill levels to join in the adventure.

Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a casual rider, this event offers an exciting opportunity to support a worthy cause while exploring the stunning scenery of the Midlands.
