The historic programme, set to roll out in April 2025, will provide primary-aged children across the trust's schools with free, nutritious breakfasts and at least 30 minutes of free childcare, offering invaluable support for families and enabling parents to get to work more easily.
The initiative, which will initially benefit over 180,000 children across England, is designed to ensure no child starts the school day hungry.
It will have a direct impact on reducing costs for parents, putting as much as £450 a year back in their pockets.
Summit Learning Trust is also running a Base Camp initiative, which offers comprehensive support to ensure that every child’s basic needs are met, both academically and personally.
This initiative includes free breakfast provision across secondary schools, access to a warm, supervised space before and after school with Wi-Fi and charging points, health and hygiene products, and assistance with free school meal applications.
Vince Green, CEO of Summit Learning Trust said: “This initiative ensures that every child begins their day ready to learn and thrive, and we look forward to ultimately seeing this in place at every school nationally.
“By addressing the issue of hunger, we are creating a supportive environment where all children can achieve more and have better life chances.
“Breakfast clubs are crucial as we collectively support working families and our economy.
“Our Summit Base Camp programme complements this offer by providing holistic support to vulnerable children and families.”
