The Edgbaston Priory Club proudly joined clubs across the country in celebrating Women’s Squash Week 2025, England Squash’s international campaign highlighting the participation, progress and potential of women in squash.
As part of the initiative, the club offered free squash and racketball taster sessions for women for both members and non-members during September, aiming to introduce more people to the sport in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Mike Edwards, Head of Squash and Racketball said: “Women’s Squash Week is about much more than just playing the game.
“It’s about creating space where women feel confident, supported and encouraged to try something new and we were thrilled to offer that opportunity locally!”
The sessions were open to beginners, with equipment provided and qualified coaches on hand to guide participants through the basics.
Racketball was also offered as a different alternative, thanks to its larger ball, slower pace and longer rallies.
In addition to offering a great workout, these sessions highlighted the social appeal of squash and racketball, with fantastic mix-in sessions and meeting new people.
Mike Edwards continued: “Our goal was to show that these sports are for everyone. Whether someone had never picked up a racket before or was returning after a break, there was space for them on our courts.”
