Chinese Entrepreneur Honoured By Mayor Of The West Midlands With Visit

Angela Huang, founder of Hello!UK Limited which specialises in Marketing, PR and Event Management for over 5 years, was honoured by Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands, at a special event at The Botanist in Temple Street Birmingham for Chinese New Year.

Angela is a MA graduate from Warwick University and formed her own company in 2012. Her knowledge in both English and Chinese markets enables her to provide creative solutions that optimises business and communication goals in China and the UK. Angela is extremely well connected in the business community. She is a founder committee member of the Midlands China Business Club and Vice President of Birmingham China Business Forum, both of which are non-profit organisations that aim to unite all local businesses with Chinese interests together and enhance the links between China and UK.

"We are a group of people who passionately believe in collaborating with each other to share experience and stimulate business opportunities, both large and small, between UK and China", said Angela "we believe in building and sustaining long term business relationships that result in mutual benefits".

Angela is a very active member of the local Birmingham Chinese Community having involvement with many projects notably with Birmingham Council, West Midlands Police, Home Office and the Birmingham Hippodrome raising the profile of their works and outreach to the wider community. She played a key role in several influential events such as Birmingham Chinese New Year Festivals for the past 3 years.  In addition, she is also the co-founder of Chinese Future which provides a platform for Chinese and British businesses and professionals to meet, share, collaborate and create opportunities.  

"Over the past few years" explained Angela "the flagship Chinese New Year Festival, held at the Southside Chinatown in Birmingham, has become one of the largest celebrations of its kind in the UK attracting approximately over 30,000 people through the day each year.  The Festival features onstage entertainment including lion dances, acrobatics, martial arts, traditional music and dancing plus kids` craft area and fairground, market stalls and Chinese food."

The event has become one of the most widely-celebrated festivals in Birmingham`s calendar welcoming all communities to join in the fun. Another project that Angela founded is Chinese Active Citizens UK which strives to share and understand the value of intercultural dialogue and support local community development. On 13th February during the Chinese New Year Festival; celebrations across the West Midlands the Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, attended a spectacular event run by Chinese Active Citizens UK at The Botanist in Temple Street Birmingham.  

"It is my great pleasure to wish everyone a very Happy New Year of the Pig", said Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands.  "The West Midlands is proud to have become a home and a hub for the Chinese community.  While we celebrate Chinese New Year it is right to think and be proud of the contribution of the Chinese community to our region.  I personally want to congratulate Angela and everyone at Chinese Active Citizens UK for all of their hard work.  Happy Chinese Year of the Pig".

For deeper understanding, greater collaboration and mutual prosperity between China and the West Midlands, Angela join the planning team of China West Midlands 2020 who are planning a series of events with China related elements across West Midlands region throughout 2020.

"Although the West Midlands has good trade and investment connections with China", Angela said, "we can all benefit from further developing the economic, social and cultural ties between China and the West Midlands".

China West Midlands 2020 encourages partner organisations in the arts, culture, business, education and sports to plan and run projects, performances, exhibitions and seminars that explore and deepen the connection between China and the West Midlands.  "The key messages China West Midlands 2020 wants to convey" said Angela "are deeper understanding, new paradigms and mutual prosperity arising from cross culture and cross border collaboration. We hope that China West Midlands 2020 will enable Birmingham and the West Midlands to grow trade and investment opportunities with China as well as in crease visitor numbers into the region".
