SIFA Fireside, which supports adults facing homelessness across Birmingham, is preparing to walk through fire as part of its vision for a future where every adult has a choice beyond homelessness.
The charity is inviting local organisations and corporate partners to feel the heat and get involved.
The SIFA Firewalk is a brand-new, daring, but not dangerous, new fundraising venture from the 40-year-old charity and is demonstrating how far the organisation, as well as its corporate partners are willing to go to fund the essential support services on offer to Birmingham’s most vulnerable people.
This once-in-a-lifetime experience is a red-hot example of mind-over-matter, as participants will walk barefoot over a 10-foot firepit, urged on by their own determination and the cheers of their supporters watching on.
It promises to be an unforgettable thrill, enhanced by the fact that your organisation is having a hugely positive impact on people’s lives by raising funds for the support that SIFA provides.
On average, SIFA Fireside supports around 450 unique individuals each month through its Digbeth Support Centre, ranging from housing advice, signposting to mental health and drug and alcohol support systems, and providing the daily essentials, such as a hot meal, a warm shower and some clean laundry.
The Support Centre relies almost solely on donations though, and each year, SIFA has to raise over £1.7 million to keep its doors open so Birmingham’s most marginalised people can access these vital services.
Robb Sheppard, head of fundraising and communications at SIFA Fireside said: “The SIFA Firewalk is an amazing way for our us and our supporters to walk-the-walk and really show that we are here for people experiencing homelessness in Birmingham.
We’re looking to raise a game-changing amount of funds with this new flagship fundraiser and we’re asking Brum’s businesses to get behind us and feel the heat.”
“We hope it also comes across as something as a sign of solidarity for our clients. Many people experiencing homelessness spend countless hours on their feet, so we can manage 10 metres, albeit on red hot coals.”
The SIFA Firewalk will take place at Shirley Golf Club, who have provided the grounds as a pro-bone offer of support, on Saturday 10th October 2026.
