The two education establishments will develop an engineering biology programme, creating opportunities for people across the region in this fast-growing field.
Suzie Branch-Haddow, vice-principal – external development at BMet, said: “This is important because engineering biology sits at the intersection of life sciences, engineering and digital innovation, with the potential to transform healthcare, diagnostics, sustainable manufacturing and bioprocessing, while creating new high-value jobs and progression routes.
“By working with Aston University, we are able to draw on their significant recognised strengths in engineering biology, biosciences and industry collaboration, giving us a powerful partnership of higher and further education that combines academic and vocational expertise with regional opportunity and helps more people into the careers that will shape the future.”
