Birmingham Rep is offering members of the LGBTQ+ community the chance to take part in ‘LGBTQTeeHee!’ - a free 10-week stand-up comedy course running.
It runs on Tuesday evenings between September and November, culminating in a live comedy showcase on The Rep's stage on 27 and 28 November.
The course is open to budding comedians aged 18 and over from the LGBTQ+ community, taking participants from the fundamentals of comedy through to a live performance.
Along the way, they will explore comedy personas, joke-writing and performance skills, with feedback from professional comics, mentors and fellow participants.
The programme begins with a Comedy Masterclass on Saturday, 22 August at 12noon, followed by the ten-week course at The Rep on Tuesdays between 15 September and 24 November, 6-8.30pm.
It concludes with the LGBTQTeeHee! Comedy Festival at The Door on 27 and 28 November, 7.30pm. Those interested should register via The Rep's website.
Also coming to The Rep this September is Send in the Clowns: Queeny Todd, a drag revue celebrating the work of composer Stephen Sondheim, running Thursday, 24 to Saturday, 26 September at The Door (evenings at 7.45pm, with a 2.45pm matinee on the Saturday).
Presented by Fatts Projects, the show is hosted by cabaret performer Fatt Butcher alongside drag and cabaret performers Dahliah Rivers, Blü Romantic and Alanna Boden, featuring reimagined numbers from Sondheim shows including Company, Sweeney Todd, Into The Woods, A Little Night Music, Gypsy and West Side Story. The performance is aimed at ages 18+.
