Birmingham City Council is proud to announce its partnership with Aston University in the launch of the Civic Agreement 2030.
This is a landmark initiative aimed at driving socio-economic transformation across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
The Civic Agreement brings together 17 leading organisations from across health, education, business, technology, and community sectors. It outlines seven bold pledges focused on economic growth, education, research, community empowerment, health, aspiration, and sustainability.
As a key signatory, Birmingham City Council reaffirms its commitment to collaborative working and inclusive growth. The Agreement builds on the city’s ambition to be a thriving hub for innovation, opportunity, and wellbeing.
Councillor John Cotton, Leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “This Civic Agreement marks a powerful moment of unity and ambition for Birmingham. By working hand-in-hand with Aston University and our regional partners, we are laying the foundations for a fairer, greener, and more prosperous city. Together, we will tackle inequalities, unlock opportunities, and ensure that every resident can benefit from Birmingham’s growth.”
The Civic Agreement 2030 is underpinned by Aston University’s Quadruple Helix model, which connects academia, industry, government, and society to deliver real-world impact. It positions Birmingham as a national and international leader in skills, enterprise and innovation.
The council looks forward to working with Aston University and fellow signatories to deliver on the Agreement’s pledges and create lasting change for communities across the city.
