"My family and I have been attending this show for many years and it is absolutely a highlight in my calendar each year" said Irene Henery (pictured), a local politician, who is standing for Reform UK in the forthcoming elections. "The idea of smelling all the beautiful, gorgeous blooms and taking photos of all the prize-winning specimens of the most spectacular blooms in the country, fills me with joy each summer."
"Each year, I also bring friends with me and we can gaze at the fantastic garden displays, wondering why our gardens look nothing like the show gardens, and then dash for some gin at the BBC Good Food Show, before returning to buy more plants from the Gardeners’ World section.
In addition to the country’s best flowers and plants on sale, there are useful gardening equipment and furniture to treat your father to for Father’s Day which is usually around the same time each year with the BBC Gardeners’ World show!
This year, the International Orchid Show was the largest it has ever been, occupying a central and spacious position in the middle of the Floral Marque and featuring many stalls from various countries. There was something for everyone, whether you are an orchid pro or have none (yet) at all.
The show gardens this year, I felt, were more pragmatic and appealing than ever with water features that were achievable as DIY projects.
At the end of the show, we did not forget our Goody Bags which usually contained some food and other products to try at home. These Goody Bags always make me feel like a child coming home from a friend’s birthday party! They often contained full size products and not just sample sized products. Absolutely fantastic day out with family and friends.
We can’t wait for next year’s show!"
