Help the Heroes Day at The White Horse
10th May 2010

We visited the Fundraising day held by The White Horse Pub in aid of Help the Heroes charity.  It was not a promising start - the weather had turned chilly, and the rain had arrived.  A typical English day!

However when we arrived, live music was happening, the bouncy castle was full of children, the stall holders were undaunted, the outside bar was serving, and there were people all enjoying, and supporting this well-organised event.

Nigel was undaunted:  "the programme is running as planned"  the rain was not going to stop this event.  And the pub was thronged with adults and children alike.

There was a very informative presentation about the current situation in Afghanistan, by an RAF Chinook pilot, and it was strangely humbling to hear just what is happening 'over there', to help stabilise the country.

Mayor Dave Hodgson also was present to support this event.

I look forward to hearing just how much money was raised, Nigel and Sue want to exceed last year's total of £21,000.   It was easy to see just how Nigel and Sue do so well in The Publican Awards, and Small Business Awards.  It was a fantastic event to visit, and here at thebestofbedford we wish them well in finals of the FSB Bedfordshire Small Business Awards, and Bll Licensee of the year finals, both later this month.
