A surprise birthday celebration dinner took us to a restaurant that we knew nothing about - no preconceptions before we arrived. The former coach house had been converted into a cafe by day and a fine dining restaurant by night. Our table of 4, along with 12 other guests, filled the compact but comfortable dining area and we were all sat down to a excellent fixed menu of 7 courses. The quality and presentation of the food was to the highest standard, with a special mention for the watermelon gazpacho, which layered, one after another, multiple flavours and textures, dazzling the palate. The open kitchen was in sight of all, and seeing Chef Mark Satterthwaite in action preparing the courses added to the enjoyment of the evening. It was a most memorable meal and a great pleasure to experience another jewel in the crown of outstanding South Cumbria fine dining restaurants.
