I cannot rate Tracy too highly! She has just made me the most beautiful hat for my daughter's wedding. It was universally admired and I felt so special. The whole process was easy and such fun. I'm not a natural hat wearer but Tracy's skill, patience and enthusiasm made me feel really comfortable and confident. I need an excuse for another! Thank you!

Another really excellent meal at Base to celebrate my birthday. Each course was a joy but the stand out was the desert featuring gooseberries which was absolutely delicious . If you love good food then this is the place to visit and it’s very good value.

Heard so much about Base from friends locally, we had to try it!
The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish with each course planned to perfection with clean flavours and plating. Although each dish had its own strengths, the real star of the night was the yeast roasted cod. Perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth cod with crisp fresh spring greens and a rich and balanced veloute.
We've eaten at other local restaurants and eateries with rosettes and Michelin stars - but the experience at Base was something else! The service was warm, welcoming and approachable - a refreshing change from the typically "distant" and sometimes pompous service received elsewhere. The whole evening we were made to feel very welcome and as though nothing was too much trouble.
The open kitchen added to the evening, being able to watch the food being prepared and plated in what must be the calmest kitchen I've ever seen was an absolute privilege. Chatting to Mark, the head chef after the meal was also a bonus, we could ask questions about some of the dish elements & discuss our favourite course too which was a lovely touch.
A 7 course meal for the same price as 3 (average) courses would cost at other pubs and eateries in the town cannot be grumbled at and we will definitely be visiting again.

Another amazing evening at Base. We finally managed to make it to a Plant Power evening and it did not disappoint! Such inventive, fresh and delicious dishes. Love that ingredients are such good quality and sourced locally. The staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable and Mark always makes the evening special with his talent and warm welcome. Can't wait to return again soon.
