Once again an outstanding evening at Base. Mark and his team offer an evening of fantastic customer service and really wonderful food. Went for the evening tasting menu and it was full of flavour, both of us loved the gazpacho, full of flavour and with a hint of heat. There are too many good dishes to mention but the other that stood out was the S’mores, fun and messy to eat and a fine dining version of a camp fire classic. With Mark leading the kitchen and Abi leading front of house the have built an unrivalled team that never disappoint. We love to eat out in many restaurants but Base brings me back time and again and always will do, whether for a fantastic dinner or a casual lunch.

Brilliant park for the kids, lovely area, plenty of seats for parents and grandparents to sit, some nice little walks around the park, plus car park, and a cafe a few metres away, plus dog walking area and leads up to the famous Hoad Monument, also do events here for the town and families 👍

Nice food and good service. However, my experience as a vegan was disappointing. There were two breakfast options listed on the menu as 'can be made vegan'. But on enquiry, it turned out that one of these couldn't actually be made vegan. I ordered the other option but to make it vegan they just removed the egg and charged the same price, meaning I paid nearly £9 for mushrooms on toast.<br><br>It was a shame as it could've been a great experience with a bit more thoughtfulness.
