We had heard good things about The Base A new venture located in Ford Park in Ulverston so my wife and I decided to try it for lunch in September. We enjoyed it so much we booked on the spot for dinner to celebrate my wife’s birthday a few weeks later. The chef Mark Satterthwaite and his staff cook in an open kitchen and everyone is seated and served in one sitting. The menu is original and sourced almost entirely locally. The food was excellent from start to finish and spectacularly good value. The business deserves to flourish and we wish them all the best in this difficult time.

We went here for our anniversary. Fantastic meal. Really really good quality food. And not too dear either. Friendly staff, had a good chat with chief after the meal. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolute amazing meal! Our first visit to Base Restaurant and it was superb, especially the locally sourced squirrel. Everything was cooked to perfection and so tasty!

Visited the restaurant for the first time tonight, it was an absolutely fabulous experience- the quality of the food and presentation was outstanding. Along with the venue, service and atmosphere, you couldn't ask for more - personally we think the cost is far too low for the standard! It was a pleasure to speak to Mark after dinner and we look forward to booking him for further private dining. From our first meeting with Mark when he catered for our wedding 8 years ago, he has always excelled himself on every occasion. Please support these guys as I assure you there is nothing like it in the area.

The Base Restaurant was well spaced out and we were taken straight to our favourite table.
Chef was able to tweek the menu to include sea food and rissotto!
Exceptionally tasty. Miss X had an equally delicious haloumi salad affair.
The lunch was tasty and filling but did leave room for a speciality home made chocolate torte.
With the new lockdown we hope that we can order take away food from Base knowing that the quality is 100% with good value and locallly sourced ingredients.

Really great food now in the form of a takeaway until lockdown eases.
Wild mushroom arancini with parmesan custard is exceptional - second time I've had it, lamb rump was also spot on and really enjoyed the chorizo, cockles and samphire side order.Perfect for a night off cooking for yourself at home and better quality than most takeaways you'll ever have.
Give Mark and this new business lots of support because they deserve it

Second take away from Base. First was Seabass main meal and a lamb... tonight was a selection of small dishes.... totally amazing, was beyond expectations for a takeaway. Food was freshly prepared and piping hot when got home. Lucky enough to have had the 5 course meal before lockdown, and look forward to going again. Well done keep up good work 👏👏

Ordered food for a special take away for our anniversary. We're SOOOO pleased we chose Base. Exceptional food of the highest quality (even after a little stroll home!) Couldn't recommend highly enough. I'll be dreaming about the roast cauliflower satay, baked goats cheese & king prawns for a long time to come! Best chips ever too!! Thank you.
