We were really looking forward to our evening out at The Base having been recommended the seven course menu by friends. The food was excellent, just the right balance of delicious favourites and new tastes! And the atmosphere was great too - the wait staff were kind and attentive, and the open kitchen provides some interest during dinner

We came after a recommendation from friends and had a brilliant time. The front of house staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable, the food was delicious and you could tell how much attention to detail and thought went into each course. We particularly enjoyed the mushroom velouté and the rum-flamed pineapple - and we’ll definitely be back!

From the moment I made enquiries about a hat for my son's wedding Tracy was fantastic. Opening the shop on a Sunday so I could try different styles, changing all the hat decorations to match my outfit perfectly. I received lots of compliments throughout the day and was very happy to mention that the hat was by Tracy Wells Ulverston.

We visited on the 6th of January for the tasting menu and it was just brilliant. Our server Abi was incredible, she made us feel at home and so comfortable, she was informative yet down to earth which we massively appreciated. We have visited many restaurants for tasting menus and the thing that stood out about Base was that it wasn’t stuffy and awkward, it was a lot more laid back and allowed us to relax and enjoy it a lot more. We loved that you all arrive and eat at the same time, that you can watch the food being prepared in front of you and Mark was also incredibly friendly and spoke with us and the other guests, it’s like we were all enjoying the same experience together yet you still had privacy at your table. As for the food - we just didn’t want it to stop! Even the bread and oils were so tasty, Mark makes an incredible sourdough that rivals the local bakeries. We could have eaten a whole bucket of the goats cheese Bon-bons but then as each course came out it just got better. I almost licked my bowl after the pea & ham soup! We will be back soon and can’t wait! Thank you all!
