Food was excellent and would definitely return, especially with the menu changing every week. The whole service lasted 3 hours which was a tad long for me but apart from that it was a very good meal

I'll keep it simple as raving about specific courses is irrelevant as the menu changes weekly.
From start to finish the evening was superb. Lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Excellent food. Amazing value. Enjoy what a very talented chef has to offer.
The staff are lovely and helpful and add to the evening.
I'm not local, tonight makes me wish I was.

What can I say, absolutely fantastic! Atmosphere was just right, food was outstanding and service was perfect. Honestly the most delicious meal we've had in a very long time cannot recommend it enough. Perfect birthday treat we will definitely be back. Well done all a hidden gem.

Fabulous meal at the Base Restaurant on Saturday evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
The whole atmosphere, food, service was superb.
It was fantastic to watch Mark and his team prepare the set meals under our watchful eye, the attention to detail is second to none in the preparation in adding the final touches to the food/ dishes (please see attached photos).
Mark does try to use a locally sourced food influence his menus and it really works.
Thanks again to all the staff, the service team in their new uniforms which look so professional, the kitchen team and of course Mark, cannot wait to return.

Lovely place
But £7 for carrot soup with NO bread 😳
Friendly service but ordered fizzy water and it was a huge bottle... enough for 2 but they didn't tell us that. Bread cost £3 and was very thoroughly handled

We visited base restaurant on a visit to Ulverston and weren’t disappointed. The evening meal is a set tasting menu although the chef can tailor the dishes to accommodate any dietary requirements. The kitchen is open so you watch the food being prepared as you’re dining. Excellent food and great service. Would recommend.

Our first visit to Base and already looking forward to the next! Outstanding and delicious food, with very professional and friendly service. It’s lovely to be able to watch the dishes being prepared, with everything done so calmly and with meticulous care. All in all a wonderful evening from start to finish.

Came across Base today on our way back down from the John Barrow monument in Ulverston.
What a gem! Fabulously simple, small plates of the most delicious, well presented food. Fantastic service from friendly staff and a chef who clearly loves what he’s doing. Very highly recommended.
