There are currently 850,000 people in the UK who have dementia, and that number is predicted to rise to over 1 million by 2025.
With numbers of people with dementia rising and costs spiralling (dementia costs the UK £26 billion a year) dementia remains a challenge to the UK that cannot be overlooked. Costs of dementia will continue to rise unless we have a system that better supports both people with dementia and their carers.
With this in mind, Barrow Dementia is holding a series of FREE Dementia Friends Awareness Sessions over the next 5 months, where you can find out what dementia is, and discover how they are creating a dementia friends community.
The free sessions will be held on the following dates:
March 29th – 10.30 am at Pheonix Business Centre, Barrow
April 28th – 2.30pm at Stafford House, Barrow
May 18th – 10.30am at Fire Station, Barrow
June 23rd – 10.30am at Pheonix Business Centre
July 12th – 2.30pm at Stafford House, Barrow
