Parking is in short supply at the actual hotel car park but both times I managed to get a space, there is a car park just nearby if you can't get in.
Hotel is clean, rooms are good and recently refurbed, but the staff are really good - Leah on reception, Jess in the bar and Charlotte on restaurant duty all couldn't have been more pleasant and accommodating, which made the stay a real pleasure.

All the staff i encountered were super friendly starting with the Receptionist who checked me in and when i checked out remembered where i'd been. Had an evening meal on the 2 nights of my 3 nights stay, all good, as was breakfast!
Have to question why the air-con is not switched on until April though. There is a note saying if you need a fan request one, so i did, and i needed that to cool down, my room temperature was 23c, and at night a little to warm for me without a fan. The fan guard was a little dusty if i'm being picky so perhaps the hotel could give these some attention. During my stay there was roadworks outside, not something the HI can control ofc, with the fan on it blocked out most of the noise so i still had a reasonable nights sleep. I was pleased with the general cleanliness of my room, my room high up so had nice view of the Bus Station and Car Park. I came by train which is around 15 mins walk from Preston Station to the hotel and i made sure i'd walk past the Wallace and Gromit statue in the Market place! i'd be happy to stay here again, but perhaps needs a little refurb in parts?

Fantastic Hotel. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I'll be coming back here if I stay in preston again in the future. Great location next to bus station. The food was delicious and yummy. And the drinks are fabulous. There are plenty of plugs to charge up any device.

We stayed here last weekend for a night. The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Preston city centre. The room was well maintained and crystal clean. The staff we encountered during our stay were all really nice particularly Ash on the bar. The bar is a lovely area to relax in whether you are on business and need to work, you want to lounge back in front of the TV or play a bit of pool. All in all great stay

We had a much better experience in this hotel than we did in our only previous visit. We were fortunate to park in the small car park at the front of the hotel, but there is also a nearby car park at the bus station.
The room was clean and worked well for us. The bar was good. All the staff were pleasant. We had a good stay.

Really enjoyed exploring the gardens here on a lovely sunny spring day. Views over the surrounding countryside are wonderful. Sensible walking shoes a "must" for the pathways, some of which are steep.
Food at the cafe delicious, if slightly dear. On the day I visited, the cafe didn't seem to cope too well with a rush when a small coach party arrived, running out of coffee beans and table service really slow.

Had a lovely walk around these landscaped gardens (good tracks, a bit steep in one part at the back of the gardens). Saw the lakes and the waterfall. Everything looked great, thought there was evidence of on-going restoration.
Then we went into the formal gardens in front of the house. These are gorgeous, especially in the sun.
There is a cafe on site for when you need a rest!

Gardens themselves are varied. Formal flower displays, beautiful layout the gazebo type area. Further into the gardens are woodland walks withna lovely waterfall, walks, trees etc with many on sizeable pathways. Some irregular paths where pushchairs and wheelchairs not practical but still lots to see.
Warning re facilities. Staff don't inform of 'differences to the norm'. E.g. went on Monday this week. Three cafe facilities marked on map. Found one to be closed as a school party was around. Second cafe closed as not open on Monday's. Entrance staff didn't tell us, and other staff not 'sorry' for any inconvenience, nor helpful. Staff in the only cafe open were not very customer focused. Crockery was dirty and tea for two equates to only one and a half cups each, so not generous and almost £2 per person. No savoury offerings just cake, and more cake. Not even a sandwich out of the noon to 3pm window. National Trust catering is much better.
Would go again as gardens are worth it, but will take a flask of hot tea/coffee and a sandwich and not rely at all on the catering side.

If you like peace and beautiful surroundings this is the ideal place to go. Took the family and the boys (3 and 6 years) loved it to.
