Stayed here twice in two weeks time. Clean rooms and nice staff. Warm welcome as gold member. Breakfast is good, also for continental breakfast. Also had meals in the restaurant (Nineteen 75, see reviews). Carpark very small, but you can use carpark of the neighbours (till 7 a.m.) or the carpark at the busstation (payed).

The reason we chose this hotel was the location, but we found it perfect. Not just the food but the staff and our accommodation was the best we have stayed in. The room was not very large but we had everything we needed. For the first time, we had a bed that was so comfortable it was a pleasure to go to bed. We have stayed in many places, but i think this was the first time we could help our self to the hot breakfast. For the breakfast we had a choice of everything you would want. We found a card in the room that told us , dont worry if you have forgotten anything, I am talking about toiletries, toothbrushes and past, shaving and blades, free of charge. Yes it is hard to believe but true.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn overnight with my son recently so we could catch the train to Edinburgh the next morning. We were greeted reasonably - the staff on reception did seem to enjoy regular 'jokes' together which doesn't always present well to guests. But the room was good enough and well equipped. The hotel has a restaurant which we didn't eat in and a bar which was comfortable if a little understaffed at times for a Friday night.
The train we had booked on left Preston at 07:53 which meant we needed to walk to the station - a 20 minute walk I estimated to be on the safe side. I had booked the hotel as it was relatively close to the station and because the breakfast option was reasonably priced. It was therefore disappointing to find that breakfast only started at 07:30. I understand that it was a Saturday and that breakfast usually starts a bit later but other hotels start breakfast at 07:00. It may be worth considering doing this at the Holiday Inn.
To be fair to the staff, they had offered us a breakfast bag with pastries, a roll, butter, cheese, a yoghurt and fruit. This could have been improved by some cheap plastic cutlery to allow one to eat the products that were in the bag. There was no drink either which is something that is much needed at breakfast.
I have therefore rated the Holiday Inn only as average. In many respects, it is a good hotel and deserves better than this and had the breakfast issue been different, I would have rated it more highly. But you can only report on your own experience and in his case, the Holiday Inn only warranted the average score. However, if want a decent hotel to stay in, close to the town centre then the Holiday Inn won't disappoint unless you are catching an early train !

Have stayed twice for business purposes and enjoyed my stay both times. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the beds are extremely comfy and everything very clean.
Only docking one star as on the second visit my bathroom smelt of smoke and the taps etc were falling apart

This Holiday Inn is right opposite Preston bus station and an easy walk into the centre where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. I was a bit disappointed with the room - it just feels tired and in need of some updating. The WiFi was very slow and the TV reception not good on some channels. We didn’t visit the leisure faculties so can’t comment on them but breakfast was tasty and the staff all seemed friendly and helpful.

It's hard to review a corporate hotel because you expect a high standard and it's only when you do not get this you start to notice.

In this case, everything was excellent. Staff at reception were prompt, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The room was big enough, very clean, with all the facilities I needed (and several more I didn't even touch!). The bed was comfortable, a choice of pillows (and more at reception if needed).

One plus point, the 'curtains' were wooden shutters. They were TOTALLY light-tight so I slept in a cave - brilliant! I slept like a log until the alarm rang.

Breakfast was excellent, a wide choice of continental and British foods, all fresh, all well presented (the hot food was actually hot!!) and coffee refills were no problem.

Check-out was also simple and efficient. I'd certainly stay again.

TOP TIP: The reception is on floor one and it looks like you have to lug your bags up several stairs .... not so! Just walk a few steps past the stairwell and there is a lift both to reception and to the rooms.

I had an xmas dinner and catch up with an old friend so we each had a room for the night. They have a small car park but there were plenty of spaces when we arrived. You must log your car in the touchpad in reception when you arrive. The reception was friendly and efficient and the rooms quiet with heavy curtains that blocked the light. The bar was quiet but the staff were friendly and informative. We didn't book breakfast but the room price was very reasonable. A thumbs up from me.

Stunning place with the added plus dogs on leads are allowed. Thank you Hestercombe Trust as it is a wonderful place to walk all year around for humans and their canine friends. The drawback is don't bother with the restaurant; overpriced unappealling food with indifferent service.

One of the definitive English gardens. A must for all RHS members and especially for foreign guests.

Lovely gardens and ponds. Quicky little buildings hidden around corners and along wooded tracks. Some friends of mine got married in one of them, apparently it was quite expensive but worth it if you want something small and unusual.
