All the staff are great in this hotel very helpful , nice breakfast , rooms clean beds nice, the one thing disabled room needs a wheel in shower. The hotel is very handy for central Preston food in restaurant is good but a little expansive if you have a budget Weatherspoon is down the road.

We didn’t bring a car so the minuscule car park was not an issue ! Staff all friendly ( although I would prefer them not to answer the phone in the middle of the check in process ) . Dinner was good and fairly priced and room fine and fairly typical for the holiday inn chain ( I would prefer better towels ) . Given the price charged it is worth 5 stars . I do a lot of national travel and would praise the people of Preston for their friendliness !

arrived early to watch snooker at preston and drop my bags ,went back to check in later,easy check in and hotel reception also let a plug with long lead for my sleep machine, did not have evening food ,due to good pub food in the area, breakfast was very nice ,bar stay open late night is everyone how a drink or two before bed, my room, 703 was a very bad room and a good hot shower anytime during day, all staff are very friendly and helpful.do not car park so i did not drive

This hotel has been operating for a long time under different names but has been a Holiday Inn for many years.
Not anything great but is properly run and the staff are pleasant and efficient.
The outlook from the windows at the front of the hotel are of the Brutlalist architecture bus shelter and to be honest, there are few views in and around this Preston hotel worth seeing.
No sign of herds of wildebeest or the hanging gardens of Babylon it what would anyone expect out of a Preston windows?
A few gripes, one of 2 of the lifts was constantly out of order which isn’t great when checking in and out and being forced to use the stairs.
Breakfast very decent with attentive staff in those quarters.
Rooms smallish and not exactly plush, the fridges which they had in each room 10 or so years ago have now been removed and replaced by nothing.
Small point but Interestingly the keycard didn’t need updating once during my weeks stay as seems to be the case in every other hotel I’ve stayed in recently.
The Ritz it isn’t but this hotel has survived for many years based on the staff and the fact they know what they are doing.

Impromptu stay during snow travel chaos - perfect location next to coach station and very handy for town centre. Welcoming staff who checked us in early with our heavy bags. Nice modern room and very cosy.

I stayed here for one night ahead of business in nearby Blackburn the following day. Arriving late, I managed to find a space in the small car park, but feared the worst when I arrived just after a coach party of youngsters from a sports' team. However, both their check in and mine were handled very efficiently, and I was soon in my room.
My room was on the top floor and was beautifully quiet. There were a couple of small niggles about the room: sockets on the desk which were impossible to use because they had been fitted to close to the desk surface to allow for a lead underneath them, and an air conditioning unit that switched itself off after a couple of minutes. However, there were other sockets, and I was able to get the room to a comfortable temperature by switching off the radiator and opening the window!
Staff service whether at the front desk or in the restaurant during breakfast was excellent and I would be more than happy to stay here again.

With over fifty acres of lakes, temples, cascades, woodland walks, formal terraces, vivid colours and views Hestercombe Gardens is a fab place for a day out. It is very hilly in parts so not for those without some degree of fitness. Kids love it as they can run to their heart's content. Lots of ducks to feed on the ponds. Lovely formal gardens near to the house.
Quality cafe with outside seating area which is pricey but nice for a treat. Nice gift shop selling unusual things with small plant area attached. 17th Century working watermill. Clean toilets.
There is a bat cam where you can watch bats roosting in the barns. There is a film all about Hestercombe being renovated.
There is a WW2 ruined hut showing the history of Hestercombe during WW2.
There are lots of events held at Hestercombe throughout the year. Dogs are welcome on a lead.
There is no public access to the house. Entrance prices are not cheap but you do see offers from time to time.
You can go to to the Stables Restaurant and Coffee Shop, The Gardens Shop and Plant Centre and there is a small, Children’s Play area for the under 7s. It is situated by the picnic area near the Ticket Office. Picnics are not permitted in the Gardens but there is an attractive picnic area with tables adjacent to the Ticket Office. You can use all of these things free without having to pay to get into the gardens proper.

We visited here in May and I was very interested in seeing a garden designed by Lutyens and Jekyll. The hardscape provided by Lutyens and the plantings by Jekyll are one of England's most beautiful combinations. The rills, fountains, walkways, etc. were very interesting. We had a nice lunch and the gift shop was interesting.

Hestercombe gardens are a lovely day out for a walk and some great food whether for a couple or a family day out. You could spend anything from an hour to 3 or 4 hours here depending on how far you want to walk/if you'd also like to eat. The manicured flower beds look beautiful when in bloom, the bluebell woods are a must see when in season, the Orangery is a beautiful hamstone building, the woodlands are left quite wild and natural, the waterfall can be heavy flowing after heavy rainfall making a spectacular sight. There are films/little buildings/information points dotted around the grounds. Everyone is very friendly. The daily quiche is always yummy served with a good amount of salad, Sunday roasts are always available. Food is a little on the expensive side. Highchairs and wheelchair access available. Check out their website for events going on throughout the year - everything from childrens fun days (little play park now added for kids and they can run around freely to their heart's content), wedding fairs, mill demonstration days, butterfly walks, easter egg trails and knowledgeable speakers. I understand that the manor house is going to be developed and opened up to the public in the future also. You can buy a season ticket that also gives you free or discounted entry to other local attractions. The investment and development over the last 20 years or so has been more than worth it with great results. Go when you know the bits you want to see in bloom etc are in season otherwise you may be disappointed.
